N800 does not see SDHC card

Hello everyone. I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything searching past posts.

I just loaded up a new Sandisk 4 GB SDHC card, class 2, with a bunch of mp3s. When I inserted it in the IT it was not recognized - it was as if there was not a card in the slot at all. I used both the internal and the external slot. When I insert the card that came stock in the package the IT does recognize it. When I put the Sandisk card in the card reader and plug that in to my iMac it shows that the files are all there.

What's going on? Is the card messed up? Can I fix this?

Oh, and my tablet is running the OS2007 that came on it.

Sorry if this is a stupid query, but I'm a complete noob with regards to these ITs. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a well known SDHC problem with the OS 2007. I believe it was resolved in OS 2007 with Software Edition 2007 version 4.2007.38-2 for Nokia N800 . Mind you, for a faster N800 Tablet Experience and SDHC compliance at the same time why not load the latest OS 2008 Chinook for the N800?

I'm running the OS 2008 release with two 8 SDHC Gig Class 6 cards with NO issues of any kind.

Yes, you should upgrade to OS2008 and this problem will be just a memory, I hope.

Yes, I think that is what I'll do. I was just a little wary of the fact that some people were having problems with OS '08, and not being the most technically savvy guy, I was trying to take the path of least resistance, so to speak. Wish me luck...'cause if it all goes pear shaped you'll be hearing a lot more from me.:D

You could always choose to install the latest OS2007 if you want to. You'll find all the releases at the same place. Both the latest OS2007 as well as OS2008 will give you proper SDHC support.
