Hey people, can anybody tell me what are the frames per second in th rdesktop app or the vnc just to have an idea. For example if there is a movie playing on my windows xp desktop computer how well does it play on the n800, does the movie play at a reasonable speed or its unwatchable. Also is there any sound on rdesktop?.

Thanks

No sound with rdesktop or VNC(also, I've not seen a VNC build for OS 2008 Chinook; doesn't mean it's not available, just not seen it.).

It seems to me that you want to run video on your N800 hosted on your PC. I use TVersity. It works great via either your browser or via uPNP with the Nokia NIT Media Streamer. Alternately you can use ORB or WeBot (just pix and music for Webot for now though but I would bet money that video will come for it sooner or later)

BTW Video via rDesktop or VNC is a non-starter. FPS on rDesktop is maybe 8-10 if your on a inside network. If your on an outside network then your probably lucky to get 5-8 fps.

Thanks for the quick response sirhunter, actually I already knew about thoes options but I was thinking that it would be nice if you could use rdesktop to watch a movie because in that case you would be playing the movie on the computer (that means that there wouldnt be the need to convert videos or worry about resolution problems, etc). Thats why I wanted to know what the fps were on the program. I saw a youtube video showing how the rdesktop works on the n800 and I thought the speed was good but I wanted to be sure with a movie.
