Trying to update from beta 7 that had all updates completed prior, and the beta 8 update keeps locking up around 20-25% on the download.
Standard canola 2....no dev version. And should be using standard repository from the “one click install” button from the main canola site
N800 with version 2.2007.50-2 for the OS

Hi Shack,
Beta8 is not broken or corrupted :) you have something on your device that is causing that, or even a bad connection to the repository while installing.

Also there's no "Canola DEV" version. The dev I said in the known issues, is for people that add "repositories" (better : applications) from several developers outside of the official repositories. Those applications may add some complications because they may use different packages, causing what we call "conflict or dependencie problem)

So : please you need to help us to help you : first thing ever is to send us the log. There's a log for the application manager in the menu of the app manager, so send us so we can see the error message. This corrupted is only the alert it doesn't help us.

While we ask that : sometimes user with same problem here : was internet connection
Others: mess with other python applications, others : previous packages installed.

After that : you can also do the basic procedure for those with problematic devices :

a. Disable all repositores (but the defaults + maemo extras and maemo)
b. Run Canola-Cleanup (this is a fix for the dependencie problem, so you don t have to use command line)
c. Reboot (just to make sure all deamons were killed, and none is running
d. install canola from the application manager.

This should work

Hello,

Ended up flashing to 51-3 twice.....and after the first time still didn't work, and suspecting my restored back up may have broken something again, ran a fresh new install, with no problem.
Adding/installed new small programs before and after Canola2 Beta attempt downloaded just fine, but Canola...and any other large program for that matter...fail to download. Here is the app manager log (sorry if this doesn't really apply to JUST Canola):

Hi Shack : are you sure your internet connection is reaching maemo extra's server?
When you have this Failed to fetch is because your software didn't even was able to negotiate with the server : /

So please, see if you can reach the repositories. other applications from other repositories are working? one more signal that you may have problems connecting :/ or also of course that the repos were down at that time : /
