Hey quick question, Do I need mPlayer to use the YouTube plugin in Canola 2? Or will it work just as well?

It's my understanding you do. When I installed the you tube plugin login mplayer was automatically installed.

Same here....I was quite surprised and happy to find that when I downloaded the you tube plugin mplayer was automatically installed with it :D.
I was happy because I wasn't sure which version of mplayer to download, and it turned out I didn't have to choose, that decision had been already made

So, is it just my N810 or is it Mplayer that's causing sync issues (video and audio out of whack ) with youtube videos or is it canola. I don't think I've came across a youtube video within Canola that is actually synced up. Did I miss a thread on how to solve this one?

Canola is using XV for playing, which is slower than omapfb, thus leading to slower playback. On top of that mplayer rc1 doesn't have very good support for flv.

Callanish :

try using a non-developer version of mplayer (24 or 26 from official repos) work better than the devel versions ; /

it seems that the new version has better support and it will out quite soon :) we are dying for it also!

Mika: if the newest version on non-devel still 26 you should not update to the developer version.

So As soon as a new version comes, it would be nice to update.
