Binary Compatability? where?

Hi,

I understand that binary compatability is broken between 2005 and 2006... can anyone point me to a link so I can learn what has changed?

Ive upgraded my dev environment with the instructions here

but I would like to understand better whats going on.

When im using scratchbox, which bit of the setup tells it to produce binaries in the new format? is it because im using the newer scratchbox (scratchbox 0.9.8.7), or is it contained in the tool chain (cs2005q3.2-glibc)? is it in the SDK rootstrap?
