Old post starts here:
Hello everybody.
I'm glad to introduce new theme for Maemo OS 2008 called "Titan".
I wanted to make something that looks solid, stylish, not very bright but not too radical (as the Star Trek ones :) ). So here it is.
File Manager:

-------------------------------------------------------------

And a little about my feelings about theming for maemo from the designers point of view (skip it if you're not interested :D )

First of all I want to say thanks to Urho Kontorri and his Theme Maker, although there are some bugs and not everything works properly, but even that way it's overwhelming theming software, that allows to create themes with flick of the wrist. It's just awesome.

Now about themes themself. They are very, VERY complex. On the one hand it's very good cause you can edit almost everithing as you like. But on the other it takes great ammount of time to build a full featured original theme.
And one more thing: with all that dosens of images and colors, included in the theme, combobox background is tied with default background. It's very frustrating and it slightly ruined my concepts. I don't think that it's cureable somehow but just for your interest.

Well, I hope you'll like it, if you don't - feel free to leave feedback in this theme, I'll see what I can do. Thanks for using and reading, good luck.

P.S.: Thanks to Andrew Olmsted for promoting it to Extras :)

That was for Tim actually :)
I've released this version simulatenously on both forums. Earlier it was a small alpha test, so nothing to lose :)

I like the theme a lot.

I found an issue though: Disabled menus aren't readable.

same here. i really like it, but i have the same problem with disabled menus. plus, i wish the font for the thumb keyboard was bigger. this problem seems ubiquitous with custom themes.:confused:

Well, in fact, invisible disabled menus is a feature, not aq bug. Why do you want to see inactive functions?

And about fonts - maybe I can dig deep into settings file to make them bigger.

And thanks for all feedback, they really makes that hard process easier :)

I like your theme, except that when I have my Application manager fullscreen open with the non-standard background (lighter one) I see black parts in each round corner. One can reproduce this with e.g. the Glasser background. And, during reboot the screen is grey, with background behind NOKIA being white.

Well, in fact, invisible disabled menus is a feature, not aq bug. Why do you want to see inactive functions?I kinda think you're joking. but in case you're not:

Besides the aesthetic reason (it leaves a lot of empty space in the menus), it is good to know what functions are unavailable in an application. I can say to myself "oh, that's unavailable because I have this turned off". then I can turn this on and make the option available.

I hope you were joking; but if you weren't, why do developers leave the disabled menu items in the menus? they could remove or hide them instead of disabling them.

i found a real bug - not sure if its because of the disabled menu item colors or whatever - in media player the buttons at the bottom right to switch between 'now playing' and 'media library' are invisible but still functional

The background fits nicely with Omweather; my five suns go well with the horsehead nebula. I usually don't change themes, but this is now the one I use.

Great theme. So far I love it.

However I wish the desktop applets could be a bit more transparent.
I realize this is something that everyone might not want, so if you could link me to the source and perhaps give a hint as to where to start configing desktop applets, that would be awesome.

Thanks

I love the update (thanks!) just I like the old background image better (yes, I realise this one fits the theme better), I don't get the bit under the analog clock applet, the RSS reader applet is more hard to read (grey on black) & main menu arrows looked more "integrated".
Don't take that as criticism please, I am loving the update on the whole.

Oh crap! Thanks for the feedback! I've forgot to change RSS color! And to attach normal Titan wallpaper( Right now it's standard theme makers stuff :(
Fixing them now!

Just like to add my congratulations on a very elegant interface.
I have found one problem, with the internet radio applet - clicking on the volume icon does not give the usual pop-up volume slider.
Other than that - perfect.

First off the 3d buttons in this theme rock!

http://files.myopera.com/yodude/blog/screenshot01.png

The opacity of home screen apps is perfect, I wouldn't change a thing in that regard. If I wanted transparency I would use another theme like nuvoClear or somesuch. Keep up the good work.

Regarding text sizing,Their is a way with which you can change text sizes to those of a stock theme...

http://files.myopera.com/yodude/blog/titanshot00.png

http://files.myopera.com/yodude/blog/titanshot02.png

With a text editor @root, if you go to /usr/share/themes/titan/gtk-2.0/gtkrc and open the file and find:

#############################
#
# Font definitions
#
#############################

style "osso-SystemFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 14.75"
}

style "osso-EmpSystemFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans Bold 11.75"
}

style "osso-TitleFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 16.75"
}

style "osso-ButtonFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 16.75"
}

style "osso-SmallFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 11.625"
}

style "osso-LargeFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 16.75"
}

style "osso-HWRFont1"
{
font_name = "Nokia Sans 52"
}

style "osso-HWRFont2"
{
font_name = "Nokia Sans 38"
}

######################################

... and change them to the values found in a stock theme:

##############################
#
# Font definitions
#
##############################

style "osso-SystemFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 16.75"
}

style "osso-EmpSystemFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans Bold 16.75"
}

style "osso-TitleFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 16.75"
}

style "osso-ButtonFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 16.75"
}

style "osso-SmallFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 11.625"
}

style "osso-LargeFont" {
font_name = "Nokia Sans 29.5"
}

style "osso-HWRFont1"
{
font_name = "Nokia Sans 52"
}

style "osso-HWRFont2"
{
font_name = "Nokia Sans 38"
}

######################################

You would be rockin'...

To make it it easier I have linked to an edited and archived file that can be simply unpacked and copied over your original one. :)

>>HERE<< (http://my.opera.com/yodude/blog/titan-theme-for-n800)

I also took the liberty of removing the redundant "HOME" label from the screen by following qwerty12's most excellent advice found here >> http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?p=178573#post178573

Wow! Thanks for the font sizes, it helped me a lot! I'll include them in latest fix release.

I would definitely also consider installing a theme suitable font. However font size is a matter of taste. In my opinion the default font size is really bad. But that's just me. E.g. file manager is a guessing game with the default font size, not so with the 12 point fonts. Anyhoo. Great theme!

Just updated to version 9.3.
Haven't noticed any change so far, but thanks anyway.
Unfortunately the volume adjustment on the internet radio applet still doesnt work.
Any chance you could fix that?
And a happy new year to you sir.

I'm not very familiar with extracting files from debs .....
But if you tell me exactly what to do, I will do my very best to extract the file (which one?) from the "deb" (which one?, located where?) and put in in the right place (where?), to see the titan-wallpaper instead of the fireworks ....
Thank you for your help.

I really like this theme, but...THE CLOCK...is very hard to read in either analog or digital mode. Maybe if the hands were dark. The white hands just blend with the silver highlight the clock. Really cool otherwise.
