Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134119&ATT=20-134-119&CMP=OTC-C173T). Lifetime warranty too. :D
Price is actually shockingly cheap. I paid a little more than this for my 1gb card a 6 months ago.

Does anyone know if the 770 can handle 2gb cards with the present kernel?

im using a kingston 2gb card right now on it2006, you'll have to apply a patch with flasher-2 though using linux.

I bought this on Monday, and got it today. Very worth it. I used to use two 1GB, but then you have all of that extra space that you can't fit a full movie onto.
Plus, one is a lot harder to lose.
And Newegg is FAST!

Kingston Newegg MMCM here too. This works like a charm.

Are these the same type of cards that the 770 uses?

The RS-MMC, yes.

So the 770 can support these 2GB cards but can you actually use the full 2GB on it? I thought it could only go up to 1GB?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm just kind of confused since Nokia said the max supported memory is 1GB so I'm curious to know if you actually get to use 2GB.

Hi guys. I just got a 770 a few days ago and updated to OS6. I am confused on how to get the new 2gb MMC card to work. I am not a total linux newbie, so something relatively simple as a walkthrough would be fantastic. I see other threads about this, but it seems there is an evolution on what to do to get it to work.

Please forgive if this post is a repeat. A link to the step by step instructions if they are already written out would be great. If there were a self extracting/installing application/OS patch that I could just install that would be best but I guess that isn't out yet.

Thanks all.

I am off to read more about this amazing device.

Zora - I second your request :) I'm not sure how to do it.

I had to poke around a bit to find instructions after getting my 2Gb card. I found instructions at http://maemo.org/maemowiki/HowTo_Support2gbmmc and followed them to install the kernel image I got at http://www.freenux.org/~mm/zImage-su-18-200627 . (However, you need to flash the new kernel from a Linux machine; evidently the current Windows and Mac versions of the flasher don’t support replacing just the kernel without replacing the whole flash-ROM image.)

I did this starting from the it2006 image; I don’t know if the 2Gb-capable kernel works with the it2005 image, but I’d be kind of surprised if it did. So if you’re not running it2006 already, I’d recommend you upgrade first. (That will mean backing up all your stuff and replacing it afterwards. However, replacing the kernel with the 2Gb-capable version doesn’t mess anything else up.)

Does anyone know if those 2GB cards can be set up for virtual memory (using the built-in 770 procedure)?

I tried it and it seemed to work fine (after upgrading the kernel). I didn't do any sort of exhaustive memory test to make sure the new swap was actually being written to, though.

A fully-working Windows flasher would sure be nice for those of us stuck in that world... I guess I'm resigned to using 1g cards for now.

I'm not familiar with either app, sorry, and as for the "Again" I fail to see where either was mentioned in this thread...???

It was mentioned in another thread I believe. Also, you could could boot into a live linux distro.

Still lost. Been in the Windows world wayyy too long. 15 years since I played with any flavor of Unix...

Go here http://www.knoppix.org/
and download the live CD and burn it to a blank CD then boot off that CD. It will not touch your windows instalation at all. When you remove the cd and re-boot, you'll be back to windows.

But look, all this took me was typing "v-m-w-a-r-e--p-l-a-y-e-r" in Google's search box and click on the first available entry. You're not racking up a lot of credit points by asking the obvious.

Go to the site mentioned, scroll down, click "download vmware player", click "browser appliance", follow instructions. It might not be a bad idea to read the manual in the right sidebar either.

You'll end up with a virtual Linux computer running inside Windows, which you can use to download and run the necessary components of the Linux installer.

It's also a nice and easy starting point to pick up on 15 years of UN*Xolution.
