View Full Version : Mobipocket Books or .prc reader
Hello all!
I was wondering if anyone knew of a reader for Mobipocket format ebooks? .prc
Wondering, as I primarily use those on other devices.
Thanks!

No. Mobipocket is Windows only, not for Linux PDAs.
However, amazon bought mobi last year, so it's possible that future readers will have more platform independence.
Check out fbreader. it's really cool!

Thanks, but just a quick correction. Mobipocket is availible for:
PalmOS
Windows Mobile (and CE)
SymbianOs (Series60, UIQ, Series80, Series 90)
Blackberry (RIM)
I currently have it instaleld on a CE, Windows Pocket PC, and a Palm Treo 650. Very nice reader... and oddly enough books are the number one thing I use a PDA for.
I just wanted something that can read the mobipocket files:)

plenty of ebookscompatible with FBReader can be found @:
http://manybooks.net
http://www.baen.com/library/
http://finding-free-ebooks.blogspot.com/
Have fun
since I mostly read in russian:
http://www.fictionbook.ru (http://www.fictionbook.com)
http://www.lib.ru
still has plenty of english books, if you can navigate through the russian interface ;)
The BBC has released a few free Doctor Who ebooks (which had previously been published as real books in one form or another, these are proper books and not just fanfic):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/ebooks/
Some of them are in an ebook format, others are annoyingly in HTML split up by chapter. Apparently the HTML ones are due to legal restrictions, where the BBC is allowed to publish them as a free website but not as a free downloadable file.

to read .prc ebooks on the N8x0 you have 2 choices:
* Use Garnet VM with mobipocket for palm, this solution works correctly (better try it with the sd card trick) but you wont take advantage of the screen
* Use Fbreader, unfortunatly Fbreader may not support all mobipocket files correctly, try Calibre to convert them, this should work with all ebooks except dictionnaries
