View Full Version : Example video recorded on N900
This just popped up on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABwNnpK8eeo. No way to tell if it is legit N900 footage but if it is, it looks pretty good to me :)

i asked the dude a question - what firmware and what resolution is it..hopefully he will reply... but i think the footage looks actually bad..the colors, exposition and sharpness..not good..looks like a video from a N95 imo..but im confident this will be fixed with firmware, just as it was with the n95 or iphone...

Kite flying, camera test for N900.No postprocessing was done except to remove a sound track.
I'm not sure but he may be talking about the Wistron N900z Smartbook

it's probably the netbook, not the nokia phone.

same poster, same date.
ooops, arrived late, sorry. :o
You can see a person's shadow clearly holding something like a digicam that is rather a smartphone than a smartbook in size.

I think it was quim who said that this one
http://www.flickr.com/photos/tigert/3880838082/
was recorded with an N900.
looks much better.

Judging from the name of the person posting, that should be 100% true. tigert is a known Nokia employee that hangs out on the #maemo IRC room.

Don't know what firmware N95 you use, but mine shoots far better video than that mess. Nearly the best video after the N86 and N97. I expect the N900 to have similar performance to the N97 with a slightly higher resolution.
Yes for Tigerts video. Note still that it's still with preproduction SW and HW. Still: It's better video than what any mobile phone that I've previously used.
Although N900 photos are good ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/rainisto/sets/72157622112624061/ for instance, or check the N900 Flickr pool), but the video is a lot more than just "good". In some cases it's pretty wow, at least considering that it's not a dedicated camera device.
I wonder if maybe I don't expect as much from my devices as some other people do because I'm quite impressed by the video so far for a device that can be used as a phone as well.
Great stuff.

I agree. Looks good enough to me that I wouldn't need to carry around a dedicated camera which would be really nice. :)

I've been using a Nokia N95 for tethering my N810 and photo purposes. The N900 replaces them both in one fell swoop. Now if only data prices in Canada would drop...

@slate: WOW. That is pretty awesome from a handheld, in such low lighting condition!!!
ps: is there any full\longer video of gary's liqbase presentation?

Not the full presentation but about 10 minutes of it.

Thanks for the photos JayMontano. But the n900 (I think cause of your angle) looks thicker then the n800. O.O

The N900 is thicker than the N800. The N800 is very slim apart from the rounded bit up top. N800 overall though is ginormous in comparison to the N900.

Eesh, hmm, so it's smaller slightly length wise but thicker width wise. Oh well it'll still fit in my pocket, just surprised (I thought it was going be thinner then the n800).

N800: 144 × 75 × 13 (/18) mm
N900: 110.9 × 59.8 × 18 mm
Not even N97 mini is thinner than N800. And it's got "mini" in it's name:D.
N800 is very slim at the end.
If you mean by the width, the N800 is definitely wider than the N900.
N900's very pocketable. To put N800 in pocket, you need majorly baggy jeans.

Haha I don't like wearing jeans (the fabric irritates me and it bothers me when I touch it). Most of my pants can easily fit the n800 into a pocket so the n900 will fit easily then. :)
@Laughing Man: Lol, something like this perhaps?

Seriously tho..
I also think the N800 dimension is ok. People adapt quickly with these sort of things anyways.. either they leave the device if it bothers them so much, or they can cope with bigger pants, clip\holsters, manpurse (:D) or whatever.

Haha manpurses.. (I had a friend in college who used plastic bags as man purses). But nah, my pants aren't that baggy =P.
But I could fit my laptop in there if I had that lol.
