Interesting article. But despite how quickly they say all this will come to market, I think it will be mid 2010 before we see anything. Like its been said in so many other threads, you have to look at the tech that is actually in stores now and make the best decision. There is always something better on teh horizon. Which is essentially what you said by saying its not going to stop you from getting the n900. Definitly cool to see 1ghz processors coming to hand helds. I'm really loving the whole, make our over powered computers smaller craze. I guess thats what happens when software isnt keeping up wwith hardware........

its not a particular phone, but components for phones, nokia motorola samsung all could use it to run whatever they want

mid 2010 at the earliest, most likely end of next year or 2011 is when you'll see phones with it

more likely you'll see snapdragons and tegra's first

No discrete product and no mention of a handheld TS-optimized OS. The next things to wait for are what momentum Moorestown gets (if any) coming out of IDF, and developing details of Intel/Nokia alliance.

Might be ignorant, but... what's the big deal here ? The 1080p ? The CPU sounds like a OMAP3640 class thing with a stronger PowerVR in there. Cortex A8 is not space-tech nowadays, multicore A9's have been announced for the same timeframe (see OMAP4), and those should be able to walk all over these... This CPU is more like an upgrade for a next-gen iPod Touch than anything else.
