Yesterday I went to London and visited the Nokia flagship store on regent street. They told me that they had no N900, and what's more it had been removed from ALL the flagship stores.
It was indicated the reason for this was not wanting to give a bad impression to people base on some problems with pre-GA code base.

However, the person I spoke to also said he'd not seen an N900 at all which implied to me that the London store maybe never had one.

Anyone know if they've really been withdrawn at all stores? I guess it would fit with the nokia uk site showing a tentative November relase now :-(

"Select markets" could mean they ship 3 devices to Andorra. :D

(In fact, it really doesn't say anything about when it's going to be released in the US, the UK or anywhere else. IIRC, Nokia starts shipping devices to some countries earlier and other have to wait months until they get the same.)

It's me, or telling a potential customer those things about problems and all also gives a very bad impression?

Well at least the Helsinki flagship store had it yesterday (saturday 26.9).
Handled it for about 10 mins.

I call shenanigans on this rumor, since it was in the Helsinki store yesterday.

Curious to see if it's there..

if you get told anything different to me I will not be happy. It was the main reason I planned to go to London yesterday and I was most dissapointed bhy it's absence.

Most interesting that it sounds like it *is* in other flagship stores, at least in helsinki.

Bummer, I'm going to London and really would love to test N900 out there :( how about other Nokia stores in London? Can someone confirm they're not demoed there?

OTOH makes sense not to demo a prototype since it isn't the final product.

that's interesting, because i went to NY flagship store just last week to check out the N900 since i pre-ordered it from amazon, but the rep there told me that they don't have the n900 out for people to play with anymore. so she took me upstairs where they had it locked behind a glass window. So basically, i cud just see the damn thing, but didn't get to touch/feel the phone. Was really disappointed with that, because i really wanted to feel the phone and what-not...but i guess its not just at nokia usa flagship store, its internationally.

Now i don't feel all that bad :P

Sorry I wasn't able to go to the store.. we arrived pretty late and got delayed by the Regent's Festival that was running in, guess, Regent Street.

I think calling before planning would be wise.

New York Nokia Store has now the N900 behind class only. No hands on any more.

this could be one possibility. xterm + announced method to gain root + über 1337 hacker isn't a good mix

Relax its ok you'll soon have it :D. I know the feeling though - I'm looking forward to running multiple browser windows with Internet Radio running in the background. N810 does this but slows on open of multiple browser windows / flash etc.
