View Full Version : ScummVM on N900
I've installed scummvm and transfered the files to my n900 root directory. The files I transfered are the .001, 002 etc fils. I've clicked through every directory on scummvm but was unable to find the files. Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong ?
Depends on what you mean by root directory. If you used file manager then the files should be in /home/user/MyDocs/
if you put them in the actual root then they should be in / and you should move them away from there.
I recommend making a directory for the scummvm data file under MyDocs (which is the root in file manager)

Tried to find out in the thread, but couldnīt find.
While browsing for the games I found two different versions. A light one and a heavy one (VGA?). Which one should I get?
Cheers,

At a guess, the heavy one (the N900 should be plenty capable) - which game is this though?

There were many with the same characteristic.
For example, Monkey Island 1, I found four different files.
ScummVM Games - Not Compressible / Monkey Island 1 (EGA-Floppy).rar 1.4 MB
ScummVM Games - Not Compressible / Monkey Island 1 (FMTOWNS).rar 3.2 MB
ScummVM Games - Not Compressible / Monkey Island 1 (VGA-CD).rar 3 MB
ScummVM Games - Not Compressible / Monkey Island 1 (VGA-Floppy).rar 2.9 MB
in this case size is not too different, but in other cases it is (>10X bigger).
I guess I'll try all and let you know ;)
It's probably best to keep this thread just for technical discussions about the Maemo port of ScummVM, and discuss obtaining games and torrents etc. on other, more ROM-friendly, forums.

A hearty hello and a thank you to fanoush for maintaining this port and a thanks to anyone else working on scummvm!
I just finished The 7th Guest on n900 and it worked great.
Next in line is Legend of Kyrandia.
Is there anything preventing ScummVM from landing in extra-testing?

I tried both and its just the same... ScummVM is one of the best things I have in my N900 :)
The only problem I have is that I don't know how to access the menu after being in the game, bringing two big problems:
1) I can't save on request (I only rely on the autosave)
2) I can't close/minimize the game (I have to press power button to get the game minimized, and then click the X)
Cheers.

Ctrl + m helps. It's mentioned in this thread.

- some people reported crashes with Day of Tentacle
- there needs to be short manual/readme with list of games with maemo specific keymaping, would be a bit hard to test without knowing the mapping
- scummvm 1.1.0 is coming soon (end of March hopefully)
but all of them are just excuses for the real reason - me being lazy ;)

anyone figure out how to input codes in gobliiins?
Is there a wiki page for ScummVM on N900?
If not, I would suggest adding one. And everybody could help documenting whatever he or she knows about it: how to install, shortcuts, workarounds, etc...
Good idea. Feel free to Be Bold and start one yourself.
Is there a wiki page for ScummVM on N900?
There was but then they moved from Midgard to MediaWiki and I haven't updated it since then. The old copy (any formatting is lost) is still here
http://maemo.org/community/wiki-closed/ScummVM/
And actually since the 0.11 version the Maemo port is part of official ScummVM project so it was suggested to me to make any such page directly in ScummVM wiki
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Platforms ==> http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Maemo
But still if anyone wants to make such page in Maemo wiki, please do so. I will definitely update it too and eventually move it to scummvm.org later and put a link in the maemo.org one.
It seems to me that http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Maemo should be the "official" wiki page. Someone could create a small page on wiki.maemo.org that points to the http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Maemo page, to help people who search on wiki.maemo.org for ScummVM, but it probably shouldn't suplicate too much information, for ease of updating.
Great job on the ScummVM port! I've been trying out several games on the N900 and while there are minor issues, all games have been playable and completable (although sometimes with workarounds). I do realize it's still in progress, but hey, here are some things I've found out while trying it out.
First off, is there any documentation on N900 specific key bindings? After much trial and error I've found most I need, but it would be nice with a reference. I've been browsing the wiki here and at scummvm.org, but have not found anything specific on the subject.
Full Throttle works like a charm, with some issues at the bike fight section. Swapping weapons works sometimes, in the end I just used the shift-v trick, as I've done it before and controlling the bike in that section was pure murder. After getting the cavefish(?) goggles the game would hang in a loop of constantly putting the goggles on, something that seemed to have something to do with the weapon swapping issue, as the problem went away when I stopped trying to swap weapons and just cheated.
Something to do with Fn/Ctrl/Shift buttons + click? I had huge issues recreating the problem as it was pretty random and I just wanted to get past that awful section.
My main past time this last week have been dusting off Discworld and trying out the enhanced music package. Here we have a wee bit more issues, such as losing mouse control, pointer issues and crashes.
The biggest issue is the fact that Discworld seems to register mouse clicks before moving the pointer to the new location, even when dragging the stylus. This results in Rincewind moving to the wrong place unless you double tap or shift tap (right click) to force the pointer to update. This means you need to be really tricky or aware in certain sections, as Rincewind can move out through a door if you're unaware. At one point I was stuck moving across L-space over and over again (a cut-scene of half a minute) before finding the shift workaround (and that shift-backspace was the same as escape, eg. skipping cut-scenes).
After changing scenes or exiting a cut-scene the game rarely locks the mouse when I was a bit hasty to tap around. No biggie, I could still open the menu, save and restart the game.
<SPOILER ALERT> At a certain point in the game you blow off a powder keg in the face of a chimney sweeper, having his golden tool drop into the luggage. After the keg goes off in his face, the scene swaps to the alley with Rincewind and the luggage and after a few seconds the sweep falls down. Everytime I came to this part of the game it crashed, until I realized it was because of me tapping the screen before I regained control (after the luggage eats the sweep). No biggie, still playable. </SPOILER>
Besides game specific things we have the issue with the menu not displaying properly sometimes on start-up (it's just black with the maemo action bar at the top side), until the game is minimized and maximized again.
Fullscreen is not really fullscreen, but rather 90% centred on the screen. Is there any way to change the resolution in a settings file? Does the source code have to be modified?
Whenever minimizing a game, for ecample due to Ctrl-backspace, the game keeps running without pausing or muting. Now, I've unfortunately not received any phone calls while using ScummVM, but any outgoing call mutes ScummVM, although does not pause it.
Great job on the program, nevertheless! I really enjoy playing my old classics on foot and these issues are only minor annoyances. ;)

The biggest issue is the fact that Discworld seems to register mouse clicks before moving the pointer to the new location, even when dragging the stylus.
This is something I've noticed in DOSBox too, so it might be a SDL issue after all... not consistent though.
What should I set the audio parameters to for say... day of the tentacle or any other (yet similar) lucasart games? What about the voices?

- some people reported crashes with Day of Tentacle
Anywhere official to log these crashes? The two freezes I've seen are repeatable:
"look at" the swiss bank book in the office right near the start of the game.
flush the hoover flyer down the chronojon to hoagie, again right near the start.
In the mean-time, I will try the diablo build mentioned a while back.
Where's the best place to pick up on how to build and debug scummvm on the N900? I'd like to help if i can.

This is an excellent app, it finally got me to play all those classic LucasArts adventure games I've been skipping out on. The only major issue I've noticed is with the CD version of Sam and Max: it freezes randomly when speech is turned on.
ScummVM 1.1.0 release is near. Here (http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/scummvm_1.1.0pre_armel.deb) is 1.1.0pre compiled from 1.1 branch. It should install and work on all devices (from 770 to N900). Recent N900 firmware supports installing .deb file directly via clicking the link (just like with older devices).
1.1.0 release tagging is planned for today so this code (with version label changed) becomes the final 1.1.0 version unified binary (=for all Maemo devices) hosted at scummvm.org. Once there is official release I will upload source to extras(-testing) autobuilders for Diablo and Fremantle. These will be a bit more tweaked for specific Maemo version (smaller size due to dynamic linking of dependencies, bigger icon in Application manager, compiler flags ...)
I hope I will also update documentation before the official 1.1.0 version comes (in few days).
For list of changes and newly suported games see the NEWS (http://scummvm.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/scummvm/scummvm/branches/branch-1-1-0/NEWS) file.
Please report crashes and (Maemo specific) bugs here to this thread. This is a good package to test for N900 specific crashes reported before (Day of Tentacle, Sam and Max).
cool, looking forward to the new version, thanks
The 1.1.0 release is delayed (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_name=55A2C6D2-C58E-4718-9EE7-54F754774326%40quendi.de) by one week so more time for testing.
The two freezes I've seen are repeatable:
"look at" the swiss bank book in the office right near the start of the game.
Tested with N900 and I see no crash with latest version linked in my previous post (built with OS2006 SDK). To me it looks like bug in compiler used in Fremantle SDK.
Where's the best place to pick up on how to build and debug scummvm on the N900? I'd like to help if i can.
The easiest is to add extras-devel to your Fremantle scratchbox SDK target and use apt-get source. Or to get the latest code you can check it out from scummvm.org SVN (http://scummvm.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/scummvm/scummvm/branches/branch-1-1-0) and apply the patch (http://scummvm.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/scummvm/scummvm/branches/branch-1-1-0/backends/platform/maemo/scummvm-1.1.0-maemo.patch). Then you build it as usual (http://maemo.org/development/).
I've run into one bug at the end of Discworld, but I'm uncertain if it's a game bug or a ScummVM bug; I'll try recreating it as soon as possible.
Basically the game does not progress to the last act (Act IV), and this may be because of me solving the puzzles in a pretty random order.
You're tasked with finding several items that defines a hero, and one of these is Camel-Flage (or camouflage). In the game it's soot scraped of a wall, but the item you receive is not the actual hero item until you use it in your inventory, turning it to a pile of soot.
The thing is I forgot to do this and carried the soot around in my bag, unused. When I had all items, Act IV would not start and after using the soot it still did not start after swapping zones. Unfortunately I'd saved not far back, making it impossible to attempt to recreate or avoid the bug.
I do have a save from mid-game I'll boot up and rig to fail. I'll return as soon as I have attempted to recreate the bug (or get past the section, if it's common in ScummVM)!
Edit: I managed to get all the way to the end this time; I saved the "sword that goes ting" for last and was greeted with Act IV. However, the game mechanics broke down after this, as the huge dragon was nowhere to be found, rendering the final act unplayable. I'll do a new attempt tomorrow, this time trying to recreate the problem with the soot and Act IV not starting. I'll also copy the saves to my computer and attempt to finish it here, as it may be a N900 issue.
This is/was a problem with the original Discworld game on the PC. It didn't occur for everyone though. There were a number of patches issued, but I never managed to get right to the end.
It seems like the ScummVM engine is actually less buggy than the PC version. The reason the dragon was not in the square was due to the last puzzle not being completed.
In the old buggy version this was circumvented by walking to the square where the dragon stood, even though she apparently should not, and feeding the small swamp dragon a lit firecracker. This would trigger the end scene.
The game seems to work as intended. :)
I'll go back to attempting to force the soot bug again. I've yet to be successful, though, so it seems to be a random game bug.
I have a lot of problems with Day of the Tentacle as well, but if I save (very) often I can progress into the game. If I continue from a save point, I can go further ... and so on, I haven't found any specific points where the game fails (yet)
I don't know if it is a CPU (spikes) or RAM (bleeding) issue, but it sounds like either. I haven't checked out 1.1.0pre, as I will wait for the final release. Keep it up :)

Great news about the new version coming up.
I am already impressed by the performance and stability of the current available version and cannot wait to try the official new release once it comes out after the little delay.
So far I have been trying games like Full Throttle and Monkey Island 3.
Only started on them, but so far so good.
I have a lot of problems with Day of the Tentacle as well,
....
I haven't checked out 1.1.0pre, as I will wait for the final release.
Your choice really. As explained the 1.1.0pre version is what becomes the final one unless I can fix bugs like this one. If nobody bothers to check the bug, the final version may still have it.
The buggy version was from extras-devel?
ScummVM 1.1.0 is released (http://www.scummvm.org/news/20100404/). When compared to 1.1.0pre package there is one last minute N900 fix - shift+enter=menu and shift+backspace=escape mappings did not work so you could not e.g. skip cutscenes.
It can be installed by directly clicking the deb file on scummvm.org download page http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/ or directly from here (http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/scummvm_1.1.0_armel.deb)
Uploading to extras(-devel) is coming soon.
I have also updated http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Maemo a bit so most key bindings are documented.

No problems here. Works like a charm!
I did say it was a guess - my N900 wasn't working at the time. It's actually a file: /home/user/.scummvmrc so (from X Terminal):
rm /home/user/.scummvmrc
This will wipe out all settings for ScummVM. You can also try editing the file and deleting the setting for the specific game - the settings look fairly straightforward.
Ive got the very latest scummvm installed also, its doing the black screen thing and not running also, but when I try the above in x terminal, im told the file doesnt exist... the built in file manager makes it awkward to search for the location of scummvm or any related files that I might want to try deleting to get rid of the black screen, since theyre all hidden :( any ideas how I can fix the problem? reinstalling makes no difference...
Just to let you know that ScummVM 1.1.1 was released yesterday (http://www.scummvm.org/news/20100502/). This is minor bugfix release, release notes here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/scummvm/files/scummvm/1.1.1/ReleaseNotes/view). No Maemo specific changes.
It is available both at scummvm.org site and in maemo.org extras repositories. This time I have also added bugtracker link (pointing to this thread) and promoted it to Fremantle extras-testing (http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/scummvm/1.1.1/) just in case :-)
Voted (http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/scummvm/1.1.1/) +1 :)
Where is ScummVM's config file located? I messed up my resolution and now I would have to get the settings to defaults. As far as I know the only way to do that is to remove the config-file but other solutions will be appreciated too.

Sound is supposed to work including mp3/ogg/flac versions of audio. It works for me on my N900.
Any ideas ? Also I'm using the latest version of scummvm from the repositories.
Which games? What type of sound (speech, midi music, ...)?
random ideas:
- check if sound works in other applications, check audio volume settings both in system and in ScummVM (Options->Volume)
-reboot phone
- try to start scummvm from terminal (type '/usr/games/scummvm') and check for error messages related to sound

Maybe. Looks like the global in-game ScummVM menu has save and load disabled in this game. In FOTAQ this is done by making entry in the journal (use book in the inventory).

the save games will look like tentacle.s00 or tentacle.s01
there also appears to be a tentacle.c00 not sure wat the c is but I would copy all to be 100% sure ;)
perhaps you could move the files from this location to be sure.

Thanks for the tip.
However, I have been having problems in PR1.2. I'm using the same Broken Sword 1 game I had before the update.
1) The app is not opening fullscreen (I found that ctrl+space does the trick).
2) The subtitles are not being shown.
3) When interacting with a character, the line with the questions and all that is not appearing.
4) During the game, if I go to the menu (ctrl+m) and clck options, it only shows sound options, not the rest.
I've tried to unistall/install ten times, ans I've tried versions in all repos.
Can somebody confirm this?

Apologies if this has been asked already, but is there any way to send F-keys in this version of ScummVM?
I'm trying to play Simon the Sorcerer 2 and to skip the long intro sequence you need to press F5, it would also be nice to get access to the "F10 feature" in game.

Yes, this seems not supported with Drascula, the buttons are greyed out. I also can't load a save game from the Scummvm launcher, if I try that I get 'This game does not support loading games from the launcher.'.

I don't know Broken Arrow, but the Monkey Island games are still copyrighted by LucasArts and not legally available for download.
There are a couple of Freeware game downloads available from the ScummVM site (http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/). Flight of the Amazon Queen and Beneath a Steel Sky are both excellent games, maybe you'd like to try these.

Aslo if it does come, will it be pretty quick to update scumm on the n900 to match? I assume so...

According to http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Leisure_Suit_Larry_5 and http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Leisure_Suit_Larry_6, 6 isn't supported at all, and the engine for 5 is WIP (work in progress).
Probably best to follow developments on http://scummvm.org/ in the first instance.
Hey fanoush.
Did you compile a right click button for the N800 version in the game Broken Sword?
Right click should be keypad center. It is a bit awkward as one needs to either left click the object and then quickly press center before the character walks near the object. Or maybe one can click somewhere else, hold stylus and move to the object and release. Maybe in that way the object is not 'left clicked' and mouse is positioned on the object. Or one can first walk away to have more time to press keypad center. For N810/N900 shift+click is easier.

ps: can someone post where to download other games for this thanks

Put the game in any directory, either under MyDocs or in the memory card. After you copied the game (and remember to unzip it if it was zipped), run ScummVM, press the "add" button and select the directory where you copied the game.
You can get more games either in abandonware websites (you can start by googling for abandonware), or using bittorrent.

I played through Full Throttle OK on an older version of ScummVM on my N810, so this may be a bug in a later version of ScummVM, or something specific to N900, or even possibly a difference in the data files of your version of FT compared to mine.
One thing you could try is to copy the save file from your N900 and try it on ScummVM running on a desktop computer, to see if that lets you get past the crash.

Thanks for the suggestion but i already tried that method...
It will say Invalid file version...
I have played the FT on the scummvm @ pc and i managed to finish it...
But on my N900 it keeps on crashing at that part...wonder if anyone got the solution for it or the save file that past that level...

Hmm, that's strange. I assumed save files are cross-platform. Were you using the exact same version of ScummVM on the desktop as on the mobile, and the exact same FT data files?

I have to say, ScummVM works nicely!
I'm able to play Legend Of Kyrandia (http://www.abandonia.com/games/88/LegendofKyrandia) at 250mhz with good performance.
hi. i have just installed scummvm on my n900. i went on the scummvm website and downloaded the lure of the temptress game. i copied the folder to my tmp directory from my pc but scummvm cant find the game. not sure which are the files i need in the folder..there are 4 discs to the game which are .vga files. any help with getting me started would be greatly appreciated..cant wait to be playin the classics like monkey island, leisure suit larry, zak mckraken etc.
maybe some1 could download the folder from scummvm and let me know which files i need to use or anythin else i need to do with them.
thanks.
ok for example on the official scummvm website it says for zak mckraken(amiga) to copy all the .lgl files to directory so i placed all 59 of them in the tmp folder on my nokia. opened scummvm clicked add game and chose the tmp directory but scumm doesnt find em. what am i doing wrong?

@gizmo
So you have the files in /tmp/lure/ ? Or straight in the /tmp/ ?
Make sure there is no other subdirectories under those. For example, if you extract the "lure-1.1.zip" available from ScummVM downloads, you would end up with directory structure of "/lure-1.1/lure/".
You need to browse into the directory where the data files actually are; so that you see the *.vga/*.ega files in ScummVM when adding the game.

hey dude thx for the reply. i downloaded lure again fron scummvm. i unzipped the file, opened lure 1.1 copied the lure file out of it and placed it in the tmp folder on my n900. still says could not find file in specified directory. was there anything else i needed to download with the scummvm app or anythin?
@kimtuomi. what it was is i wasnt double clickin on the tmp file on the scummvm menu to go into it i was pressin choose straight up so thats why it couldnt find the file..cant believe that ive been tryin to figure out what i was doin wrong for days.lol...thanks anyway man:)
anyone know if grim fandango can be played on scummvm?
Grim Fandango did not use the SCUMM engine, it was a 3D engine of some sort, so I doubt ScummVM will support it.
There has been some development on a N900 engine for Grim Fandango, but there haven't been updates for some time in:
this thread about Residual Games (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=43138)
Also it looks very slow in the videos.

@gizmo:
I was pretty sure you're doing something wrong. There's not very much that can go wrong when adding games to Scumm, if you have all the necessary game-data files and they are correct ones.
Thanks for the suggestion but i already tried that method...

I was able to play through it and complete the game. I had issues in two other places:
- Cut scene after picking up ramp (exited scumm; avoidable)
- Cut scene after minefield (exited scumm; played correctly when attempted again)
Have you tried recopying the data files from your CD? If you still want it, I have a few saved games towards the end. I know I have one at the start of the speeding truck part. Not sure I have one from right after your problem scene, but I can probably create one if you really want it.

I get the following bug in Full Throttle:
After meeting Torque in Mine road, I'm stuck in a loop, always taking the first exit to the highway, then back to Mine Road, and so on without any input from me. Makes it impossible to progress.
Same data files work fine with ScummVM on Windows.
That's strange--that didn't happen to me. Do you have any extra control methods setup other than the normal touch screen (such as accelemymote) that could possibly be active?

Anyone using Drascula?
Game works fine, but I can't save/load games. I am supposed to press F10 to open the menu, but there is no F10 key.
Invoking the game menu with control+enter does nothing.
Has anyone played this game?
The menu is opened with control+m.

The menu is opened with control+m.
Thanks for the quick answer!
Yes, it opens scumm menu, but the buttons for "Load" and "Save" are dimmed. On the main scumm screen, clicking on "Load" it says "This game does not support loading games from the launcher".
Accodingly to the game documentation, one should press F10 to open the load/save menu inside the game.
Any ideas?
eduperez the same issue is with gobliins2. I can't save in scummvm menu and game menu... I think with Drascula will be the same.
I recommend for you all "Beneath the steel sky". It's so cool and funny(and you can save the game :D ). You can download it from games section in app manager.
On The Curse of Monkey Island how do I skip the intro?
I double tap the screen, press enter, space, ctrl and every key but have to sit throught it!
Also it seems to be running too fast
To skip the intro, hit the standard cut-scene skip key: shift-backspace
The key mappings are listed in this post (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=440993&postcount=144) from a while back.
As for runnnig to fast -- maybe you have an overclocked N900? On mine it runs at original speed.
Keybindings are documented here

Lazy Larry?!?!?! WOW! copying to n900 now! ;) Gabriel Knight???? I need a new pair of under crackers!
Anyone managed to get the Sierra games working?
They are on the compatability list but I cannot get Leisure Suit Larry, Police or Space Quest games to work
Same with Ripley's Belive it or Not and 7th Guest
I am having problems installing many games that are on the compatability list - the majority being Sierra games.
Unable to isntall Leisure Suit Laryy games, Police Quest series, Space Quest series, etc.
Also some others which are on the list like Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
As an added point - I can get Lure of the Temptress to work - but it has no sound???
Downloaded latest version and the Sierra games now work - still no joy with Ripleys Belive It or Not, 7th Guest or sound in Lure of the Temptress though.
Gabriel Knight also has an error ' Game Data Not Found ' when I attemp to start it
Tried changing platform to Windows and PC 98 - same problem
i got gabriel knight demo working, that was said to be working.
do you get an error or something?
i had 7th guest running aages on my n95 8gb, so that should work
only gabriel kinght demo works so far, if you read the list. i tripped up on that one
Larry 7 is not listed as supported...
No problems - just wondering why emuparadise has a list of workinf ScummVM games that include Rex Nebular, 7th Guest, Leisure Suit Larry 7, Ripley's Belive it Or Not and a few others - are these scheduled for the next release?
Any time scales?
On one note - Fascination - anyone managed to get it to work - no way to press F1 to start the game.
Managed to get 7th Guest working - had to mess around with the sound settings
Anyone managed to get Fascination playing?

You should check http://scummvm.org/compatibility/ for the list of working games. Other sites might not have correct info.
The 7th Guest works fine and is completable. I'm hoping for support for 11th Hour.
Problem with Nippon Safes Inc.
Tried the dos and Amiga versions and I think there is an error - you pick up the plastic and remote control at the beginning but they do not show in your inventory
Anyone else expereinced this?
yeah, i have lsl1sci, lsl2, lsl5, and lsl6 working. i haven't had a chance to test them heavily, but they boot at least. not sure if it matters, but i named the directories as i listed them above. had trouble with lsl3 missing a resource file however.
7th guest was working with the last release (1.1.1).
Yeah got 7th Guest and the others working - had to fiddle with the sound settings on 7th Guest though for it to run
Anyone had the problems with Nippon Safes Inc? Items you pick up do not appear in your inventory to be used.
Can someone please tell me how to add a a game? I have installed ScummVM. I have the retail contents of The Dig, which I transferred into the tmp file on the Nokia. But I cannot locate the contents on ScummVM. Do I need to convert the game in any way to make Scumm recognise it? Thanks.
Defo no need to convert it.
I have a folder listed Scumm Games and in this folder other folders for the individual games - ensure all the contents are unzipped into one of these.
When you select add game - locate your folder ( you need to double tap the folder names on the screen )
Pnce you get to the folder for The Dig - usually just selecting ' Choose ' will install the game for you. However from experience I know this does not work with The Dig.
You need to double tap the folder and you should see two highlighted words - Dig/ and Support/
just highlight Dig/ and now select Choose
Should work
Mucho thanks - problem is I can't seem to go "up" when choosing folders from Scumm. I get a list of folders, bin, temp, etc that I don't know if they actually exist on my Nokia - does that make sense?
Have you put the contents of The Dig in it's own individual folder?
Yes, into the "tmp" folder when plugged in under mass storage mode. Do I copy the CD contents or the contents of the installed game?
It's not an ISO image is it?
My The Dig folder is 631mb in size.
I just named a folder Scumm Games in the root directory
Yep, that's the same as me. I have it in front of me now. I have Scumm open, I've pushed "add game," in the select directory list I have bin, boot, cdrom, dev, etc. But I can't get to the Scumm folder I created. Going to previous directory doesn't work. Ideas?

I just named a folder Scumm Games in the root directory
I have gone into my N900 and into Scumm
I have selected to add game and have selected Go Up until it cannot go up anymore
I can see bin/ boot/ cdrom/ etc
With your stylus double tap HOME
Then double tap USER
You may see your folder now......mine was in My Docs from here on.
Great, that worked, thank you.
One thing - how do I now run game? I have clicked on Dig folder, but it says it can't find any game in folder?
Thanks again.
That happened with me with The Dig as well - most games you highlight the folder and select choose and it finds the game
With The Dig - double tap the folder so it opens up - then select choose and it should lnstall it for you
Then all you have to do is press start to get up and running
Got it working! Amazing - thanks so much. You have no idea how much I love this game - playing it on my phone: amazing!
Ha ha - glad you got it working - happy that I have managed to help someone at last - usually me doing the asking!
Im playing Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars at the moment on my phone - really awesome playing these games on the N900
Yes, that's a great game, too. I have all of these lying around somewhere on CD - gives me a great excuse to find them.

Is it possible to somehow emulate the F keys? Leisure suit Larry 1 (the original, with text interface) requires you to press F4, F6 and F8 to control the slot machine minigame, and there's no way around it :(
I need to know about the F keys to get Fascination to start.
I asked about this a while back as Simon the Sorcerer needs them to skip the opening sequence and also, I think, to access the save menu.
Didn't get a useful answer.
Any answers on Fascination???

Okay, nevermind LSL1; you can play blackjack instead, which reacts to text commands.
But, there seems to be a problem with the old Sierra games that use text input window (not commandline): they don't react to ENTER being pressed. In Larry 3, you can click the window instead, but Larry 2 is totally uplayable because of this.
Seems that you got over (quote) that awful section (unquote), could you pass on your knowledge, 'cause I'm all outta ideas. Though my problem is slightly different: I cheated, shift-v, from the beginning and therefore didn't swap weapons at all. Fortunately I've made it from constant-goggles-on-and-off- situation to a state where I can drive the mineroad on and on peacefully until I hit ctrl-i to put the goggles on making Ben start the annoying ritual.
Could it be possible to get over/warp to the caves - like playing it on PC, saving, and then moving the savegame- file to N900?
EDIT: Got it to work with a little elbow-grease, patience and trying out every little thing there is!

Hi all, I need to reinstall ScummVM on my N900, but i've been playing a couple of games an don't really want to lose my save positions. Is there anyway to backup my saves, reinstall ScummVM an then restore the saves? I'm not even sure where the game saves are located.
Secondly, the reason i'm having to do this at all is because I changed a graphic option for a game from x2 to x3, which resulted in a black screen, and now whenever I start ScummVM it just loads for a bit then quits out. If anyone knows how to remedy that instead of me having to resort to the saves backup an reinstallation, that'd help a lot too.
Thanks in advance for anyone that can offer some advice :)

I have my saved games in /home/user/MyDocs/Games, the same folder where I have the games.
If you reinstall ScummVM you won't loose your saved games files, cause they aren't in ScummVM data folder.
You can try removing /home/user/.scummvmrc file to get ScummVM back to default, but you need to add all games again. You can edit this file, but try to understand what are you doing before touch anything.

For the benefit of anyone else this happens to, I Used CuteExplorer to firstly see the full filesystem, I enabled 'Show hidden Files' to see the .scummvmrc file, and then I deleted it to set Scummvm back to its defaults. :)

Type "deal" to start. Use the appropriate commands during the game (hit, stand, split etc.) ;)

Take all the junk inside the other folders from your CD and pile all of those files into just one folder. :)

Sound is supposed to work including mp3/ogg/flac versions of audio. It works for me on my N900.
I found this same issue and for me it was corrected when I plugged headphones on =)
I have not troubleshooted why it doesn't play sounds normally but only through headset.
You might give that a try.
