US Qwerty keyboard is Fn-g for underscore, Fn-f for hyphen. Maybe you switched your keyboard locale?

Go into Settings-> Text Input

Mine is set to "English, Nederlands" in Hardware Keyboard Layout, bizarrely enough, but it works.

Blue arrow + Ctrl will show an on-screen keyboard with some special chars missing in the physical keyboard, including the underscore.

(This is in an spanish N900 defaulting to spanish/french/portuguese keyboard layout.)
