Battery charging questions

Ok, as I eagerly anticipate the arrival of my 770, I have been looking into a few things. One item in particular that caught my eye is that of bettery charging. The manual says you can use the 770 while the battery charges but a couple of posts here have indicated the opposite. So, if you have it plugged in and am surfing the web, will the battery be charged? Additionally, am I correct in saying that there is not currently a spare battery charger compatible with the BP-5L?
