Palm III
Palm M500
Sony Clie T610
HP iPaq 2200
Some oddball handheld I got out of impulse in Hong Kong - it sucked big time!
BlackBerry Curve 8320 (present device)

I will be getting the n900 in less than two weeks.

Some Cheap Nokia Phone - 2007 April
770 - 2007 July
iPod Touch - 2008 August
n810 - 2009 January
Prototype n900 - 2009 October

I still have the cheap nokia phone, 770, n810, and n900

As for the iPod Touch. I looked at getting an n800 right as all stock dried up. I needed something to replace my 770 and didn't want to pay a lot for an n810. Yeah, that lasted long. both for usability and because I was so embarrassed to be seen with it.

Edit: Added my cell phone into the mix

Some AT&T branded Ericsson (don't remember what it was exactly).
T-Mobile-branded SonyEricsson T300 (I think)?
T-Mobile-branded Nokia 6610
Nokia 6630
Nokia E61i
Nokia N95-1
Nokia E71-1
T-Mobile-branded Nokia 1208 (prepaid) - was waiting for my N97 to ship and needed something cheap as I had inadvertently zombified my beloved E71.
Nokia N97-2
Nokia N900

Looking at that list, it seems that my devices have been getting physically bulkier each time (except for the 1208).

I don't get the widespread disdain for the N97.While it has some serious flaws, it is not a bad device. It just isn't as ground-breaking as the N95 was when it was released. It is generally better than the N95 except for some minor things like the lack of hardware 3D acceleration.

Handspring Visor Deluxe: November 1999
Handera 330: 2001 (?) until stolen in 2003
Palm T3: 2003 - 2004, sold and good riddance :D
Zaurus SL-C860: 2004 - present. Ran out of charge the other day because i hadn't used it for a week.
Nokia N900: December 2009

I sometimes miss the Handera 330. It had a huge greyscale screen, decent spreadsheet program, grafitti, CF & SD slots(?) and the batteries (rechargeable 4xAAAs, i believe) lasted for literally days of constant use. I mean, i read the entirety of Atlas Shrugged on the gadget on vacation using the same batteries, with plenty of other use during that time.

The Zaurus is better than the N900 is some ways. I picked it up the other day and it felt amazingly spacious and comfortable after getting used to the N900. It has better hardware buttons and the ancient VGA LCD screen is (amazingly) just as bright and clear as the N900s, if a bit more bluish. However, i find myself trying to kinetically scroll everything and have never been able to carry it in my front pant pocket, which is where my phone goes.

To be honest, i'd rather have the N900 NIT-sized. It would still be an improvement over carrying both the Zaurus and a phone around, and much more useful for me. I can fully appreciate that would put it out of the running for most people, though. :)

yes, I agree N97 is a decent device. For me It was a better n95 with touch screen. And I was/ am really happy with the user interface of N95 so N97 was not a Go-Get-It device for me. Obviously better than N95 with more memory and high speed USB and widgets.

Had N95 for two years and I needed a ground breaking thing, I got it.

Wow -- I'm seriously out-geeked by you gadget-lovers. My story is quite different. I buy a very few things and milk them for all they're worth.

Palm m125 (still works & can briefly entertain kids on trips, although I've stopped using it as a PDA due to lack of rechargeable batteries)
Nokia N810 (e-mail, maps, podcasts, music library, YouTube, games, notes to self, RSS, weather, remote desktop, basic web browsing, and just about everything else)

My cell phone is a $20 flip phone with prepaid service. That's literally my whole list.

Tapwave Zodiac²? Wow. How was that? Better than the GP32?

ALOT better!
The GP32 was a handheld with 133mhz and SMC slot (max 128mb cards)

The Zodiac had a bigger screen, double the display resolution, a touchscreen, was smaller and much thinner, had a real OS on in (PalmOS), 200mhz with 2D video processor. The Zodiac was able to run videos with a higher resolution than the N810 (but a lower resolution screen)! Also it had !two! full sized SD card slots.
I've still three (or four?) Tapwave Zodiac² but I'm not using them...
It was one of the best device I've ever bought!

You buy stuff like it's disposable :) I'm 28 years old and here is my timeline of mobile phones:

Ericsson GH197
1995-1996
Image (http://www.e-zones.net/image1914.php)
So I was ~14 years old and quite many of my friends had also phone here in Finland. It was quite weird to watch Hollywood movies where people used pager. We just didn't understand whole point of using it when you could use cellphone :) This phone was really Brick.

Ericsson GH337 Image (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kHh0SOSpETQ/SNk5c5IGrWI/AAAAAAAABmw/CMo0StAuGZc/s320/ericsson-gh-337.JPEG)
1997-2000
This was actually quite nice phone. Antenna was problem because it warped sometimes. I think i bought slimmer battery for this phone.

Nokia 6110
Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_6110)
1999-2002
I don't remember anything about this :)

Nokia 6310i Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_6310i),image (http://www.cellular.co.za/phones/nokia/2001/nokia_6310.jpg)
2003-2005
Really really nice phone. I still love feel of it. Looks professional and it´s quite slim.

Nokia 6021
Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_6020)
2006-2009
Just basic phone that had good standby and works like the train toilet. Still also love this even battery has given it´s juices.

(So before n900 I haven't had mp3, camera or gps phone :))
N900
2010-
Right now sometimes I hate it and sometimes I love it. I miss basic phone functionalities. Also speed on phone functionalities is slow even compared to first phones i got. I got this as present, but let's hope that everything turns out good :)

My short list of PDAs and Phones:
- samsung personal organizer. died in backpack
- Palm m105. Have had and loved for many year
- IPaq 3845. still run and I have added CF wireless G card. I plan on installing linux on it one of these days.
- Palm m130. Sold to a friend but it died a few weeks after i sold it. Thinking of getting him a N8x0 to replace it.
- unknown verision metal shell flip phone
- Razr V3c. I had 3 of the POS phones and i am glad i never have to use one of those things again
- N800. I used this thing to death and then i got it replaced. It is right now on my desk at home with a full charge and 24 GB of SD sorage in it. It died when the vertical sink broke.
- Blackberry Pearl 8130. Still use today as my main phone. I also us it for a modem for all my NIT including the N900 .
- N810. I bought this just after i sent in my N800 for replacement so i could have my NIT for geocaching and internet on a trip i was taking.
- N900. After two and a half years of N8x0 i was wanting some more horsepower. After going to CES and playing with the N900 for 30 some odd min i was hooked. Sorry to anyone that was there Sunday that I blocked from playing with it. I have made it as close to a phone as i can without paying for cell service with skype in/out, GV, and IM.

Nokia 5110 (1998-2001) - I still get emotional if I think about it
Nokia 3330 (2001-2004) - Still using it today with a foreign SIM
Nokia 6630 (2004-2008) - Brilliant phone for its time

Nokia N900 (2010-) - Best phone I've ever had!

My brother was the lucky one and had the 2 matrix sliders.. the original one and then the updated version with the spring-loaded catch.

Anyway, I had:

-Motorola Brick (tm) with extendible aerial, required credit card sized SIM card.
- monochrome Nokia with fixed aerial.
- monochrome Nokia with exchangeable covers.
- Motorola - first colour screen phone I had but hardly used, only on holiday as my Nokia was my main phone.
- Sony Ericsson T610
- Sony Ericsson W810
- Sony Ericsson K800
- Nokia N82 (I would have gone to the SE K850 if I hadn't disliked the "touch-sensitive" buttons so much. I waited for this to come out rather than get either version of the N95 due to the Xenon flash.)
- Blackberry Bold (first time I used email on a phone. It was brilliant on the Bold.. still use this)
- Nokia N900

Until the N82, I had never paid for a phone and just taken free upgrades.. since then I've bought my phones SIM-free. And I'd really wanted a StarTac back in the day...

Sagem (again, no idea which) around '98, stopped working after a few months
Nokia 5110
Nokia 6310i in early '03 (first phone i actually liked, before i didn't even have 'em with me most of the time)
Nokia 6680 around '06
Nokia E51 right when it came out, end of '07 (best phone-phone ever IMO)
Nokia 5800 end of '08 (with the new firmware release recently it's actually becoming a decent phone)
Nokia N900 dec. '09

I'm not really a big phone switcher. 5 devices in 12 years is not a lot. I usually have them until they croak, or there is some serious "must have" released.
I can't remember what my first was.. starting from the second one:

1997 Nokia 3110 <- Don't remember what it was like. Broke the antenna.
2000 Nokia 3210 <- sturdiest phone ever. Dropped in toilet.. twice, and kept on ticking. Lasted 4 years!
2004 Nokia N-gage <- Awesome awesome device. especially with frodo and ik+. Still play it sometimes :)
2007 Nokia N95 <- Good video camera on this one. Gave it to my mum.
2009 Nokia N900 <- Greatest device ever.

[1]Notice a pattern? Though I was getting fed up with PalmOS and really wanted a Zaurus clamshell at that point, but getting one of those shipped from Japan was way outside my budget...
[2] It was 2007 and I had a severe case of this (http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/files/www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/nodes/3053/strip.jpg), but I ended up not doing much with it because I hated the screen size, touch UI and the fact that it's a phone.
[3] For use as a BT/HSPA modem only - cheapest option I could find.
[4] Borrowed for testing, not purchased (for pretty much the same reasons as the Neo), returned.
[5] Replacing the dumbphone, not the N810s

Phones:
Audiovox analog phone (included with the used car I bought).
NEC Analog - could store 10(!) phone numbers AND almost fit in a pocket.
Nokia 6162 - WooHoo! Snake!
Some forgettable CDMA phone (but first tethered phone)
Nextel i90c - best speaker phone
Some forgotten Nokia CDMA (locked down by VZW)
LG VX9800 - looked soooo cool, did absolutely nothing
N95 - looked dorky, did amazing things
N900 - looks (mostly) cool, does even more amazing things

On the mobile computing side:
GridLite plus - lighter than most desktops of the day, so I guess it lived up to it's name. I used it with a packet TNC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packet_radio#Amateur_Packet_Radio_and_the_AMPRNet) mobile.
IBM 701c - with the amazing butterfly keyboard
Apple Newton Messagepad (stolen, then recovered) - still the best mobile computing interface, but too slow even then.
HP 320 LX - I only had it a short time, I don't remember much about it other than it was a disappointment after the Newton.
Toshiba PDA running Windows CE (don't recall the model number). Had CF and SD, wifi and Windows media player, it became my first MP3 player. If the battery went dead it lost all applications and data.
Toshiba Libretto 110 - I used this right up until about 2 years ago. It was really handy for tech support, just throw it in the tool bag and go. I had permission to put it on our corporate network (those were the days), and had Outlook loaded, so it make an excellent PDA, there was barely enough horsepower to play movies, and I had a ton of PCMCIA cards for network, flash memory, disk drives, etc. Also the first PC I tethered. 14Kbps! Anywhere! Imagine that! Still one of my favorite mobile devices, although typing was next to impossible.
Generic Acer laptop - Modern, used mostly for Ham radio.
N800 - Got it after the N95 turned me into a Nokia fanboy. It was in with all the cellphones at CompUSA. They were dumping them for 70% off "list" price, so I think I got a good deal. Quickly replaced the Libretto.
N900 - Replaced N95 and N800. I was all set to buy an Android phone, but I realized I spend 90+% of my time online, not on the phone. If the Nexus One were released a little sooner I would have likely bought it instead. I still think the N900 is a player, if Nokia would just finish the damn thing and stop changing direction all the time.

nokia n-gage - wow! multitasking on a phone! I can record from FM. I can record from my cd player to AAC in stereo. I can even send faxes! Awesome games. The whole psone tomb rider on my phone. wow again
qtek s200 (htc prophet) - 1 million apps. Too bad it crashes when I open two of them
samsung xgh-x820 - the slimmest phone I ever had. Almost forgot it was in my pocket. But no vibration while ringing?
nokia N81 8gb - Looots of mass storage - but so little internal memory made the thing useless. Craaaappy camera. Heavy as a brick. I still love it though.
nokia N95 - That's it.Shame it can't play quake III. I want a 8gb one. I want!
nokia N95-8gb - Still the best phone around. By far. (If only it got a gps fix a little faster)
nokia 5800xm - Nice touchscreen phone. Fine screen resolution, plenty of apps (most of them still work from s60v3. A little laggy processor but never mind.

tada! you know the last one don't you! But its a tablet, not a phone. (the King (N95) still lives in my other pocket)

PDAs / tablets
1999-07 Palm IIIx (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_III): my love for mobile computing started here
2002-12 Palm Tungsten T (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tungsten_T#Tungsten_T): full color changes everything!
2005-11 Palm T|X (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TX_%28handheld%29): the best PDA, spoiled by poor touchscreen
2007-10 Nokia N800 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N800): promising, but unbearably slow for a Palm OS fan

Phones:
1999-12 Nokia 3210 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_3210): wow, a cellphone!
2003-01 SonyEricsson T68i (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_T68i): a tiny tech marvel
2007-01 Nokia N73 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_N73): my first true smartphone
2008-12 Nokia E90 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_E90_Communicator): a real powerhouse, never again without qwerty keyboard
2009-11 Nokia N900 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N900): delivered all promises of N800

With E90 I stopped using two separate devices. Convergence is great!

Alcatel OneTouch 280
Jun-03 - Apr-04
First Mobile Phone ever. Bought it just before starting secondary School in Germany. I gave the phone to my dad, who gave it away :(

Siemens A50
Apr-04 - Jul-04
gave the phone to my aunty, since I left Germany in Jul 04

nokia 3310
Jul-04 - Oct-04
the phone didn't hold charge (it was 2nd hand), even with a new battery. I've still got the phone in a box in my room.

nokia 3330
Oct-04 - Dec-04
The phone's speaker stopped working. Ive still go it in, in the box. (this one was second hand too)

NEC C313
Dec-04 - Jul-06
Had this phone for 1.5years. It was budget (bought at Woolworths UK). Screen Cracked. Still have the phone in the box mentioned above.

Nokia 6822
Jul-06 - Sep-06
It was an epic fail! The keyboard kept on falling apart, so I returned it and got a refund for a Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson k750i
Sep-06 - Jun-08
The screen broke. I actually ordered another k750i off eBay and swapped the screen. But the screen broke again. :(

Nokia e51 (w/ camera)
Jun-08 - Oct-09
First contract phone on a business contract. My dad spilt coffee on it, so I got BT (Network Operator) to send me a Nokia E52.

Nokia e52
Oct-09 - present
I still use it now and then. Currently, it's covering my N900 which has been sent of to get repaired (USB Port Problem)

Nokia N900
Apr-10 - present
It is at Nokia Service Centre, getting fixed. This is probably the most ideal phone, I have had.

Nokia 1661-2
May-10 - present
I let my Dad use it, but I use it for 'fun' now and then. It is lying in front of me, while writing this.

Nokia N8-00
Oct-10 - present
This is the main phone I currently use. OVI Maps and Camera being most used features.

Wow... just writing this made me realize that I have had so many phones over the past 7 years (First phone was when I was 10 years old).. It might seem that the phones were 'modern' but you have to remember that I am only 17 and didn't have the chance to get my hands on vintage Mobile Phones :D

Nokia 5165
Nokia 6360

Motorola T720
Motorola V600
Motorola RAZR V3
Nokia 6800
Samsung SGH-x426

Motorola KRZR K1
NEC 535M
Sierra Wireless VOQ A11
SE P900
Motorola RAZR2 V8
LG Shine KU970
Audiovox PPC4100
AT&T 2125
T-Mobile Wing
Blackberry Curve 8320
LG Incite CT810
T-Mobile G1
HTC TouchHD
T-Mobile MyTouch3G
Nokia N900

Well, that's it in a mostly correct order. As you can tell, I have a problem. :) That is 2000 to the present. I have to say that I have had most experience with Windows Mobile, and some Android, but my N900 is absolutely the best phone I've ever had. Only complaints are that we cannot get Flash 10.1, would like to have multi-touch, and I would like to have a larger screen. Other than that, there is not another current phone I would rather own.

http://members.cox.net/n75/phonesiowned.jpg

These are the phones I owned and used for more than a month or two. They are pretty much in the order in which I used them but there was, and continues to be, a lot of overlap among the products. For example I have the N78-3, the N900 and my unpictured N8 all active right now. When my son returns my Nuron when he replaces his broken SGH-D900i I'll probably put the Nuron back into service and re-vault my N78-3.

Of these I have had some favorites.

The 6103 was the first phone I unlocked and debranded.
The 6290 was my first S60 phone and along with my SU-8W served as my "laptop" my first year teaching high school until a real lap top came along.
The V635 was the first phone I did extensive modifications on. SEEM edits, language packs, icon sets and the like. It is what opened my eyes to how modifiable a phone could be. It also was the first device where I found an active and knowledgeable community support system. It was the first device I bricked.

There are also some "least favorite" devices pictured.

The Sony-Ericsson W580i because of its limited memory, cheap feeling slide and proprietary headphone jack.
The Samsung SGH-U600 because of it's limited feature set, very cheap feeling slide and crack prone housing. The capacitive buttons were cool.

Not pictured is the Nokia 6301b which was a mixed bag and so forgettable I ... forgot it when making the photo compilation. Many other devices came and went for a week or so. They either were too basic, too limited or no improvement over what I had at the time.

I'm okay with my present line-up and have slowed way down on trying out phones. I look forward to checking out a future MeeGo device but do not feel compelled to camp out in front of my computer to buy one as soon as it is released.

You know that classic scene from one of the Star Trek movies in which Scottie visits Earth and walks up to a computer, saying "Computer:" in a ready for action voice and is momentarily confused when it doesn't answer him?

It occurred to me that we are on the edge of the no-computer generation. Yes, just like they are now writing articles about people getting rid of their TV access and just relying on the net (I do that), soon they will be writing about people getting rid of their computers, meaning those huge, clunky behemoths many of us have been taking for granted most of our lives.

Here comes the "computer? What's that?" generation. We will be switching to a cluster of smaller devices.

So when future generations see Scottie say "Computer!" in the movie, they will laugh like we did, but they will be laughing at the idea that people ever had such clunky devices around.

Didn't want to make a new thread.

Someone gave me this very old, but very cool mini-computer.

Journada 690

cpu: 133 mhz
ram: 32 mb
IRDA, PCMCIA, dial-up modem, CD card slot, com port.
OS: Windows CE 2.11, but there is also a linux distro for it. (Jlime)

Of course, n900 beats this thing by million of times, but if today was 1999, I would probably buy this device.

Numerous, some top of my head. Samsung flip back in 2001, Nokia 3450 (was it the first color one?), n70, n80 (lost), n96 (stopped working after a year), n900 (jan 2010), iphone4 16gb (august 2010), iphone4 32 sept 2010 (16gb was too less for apps, and gv it to my wife). Ordered LG Optimus 3D P920 sept 5th 2011 expecting it in week's time....:)

Nice topic

My list of handheld computers, phones and smartphones :

2000 : Psion Siena 1MB (SIBO/EPOC 16), starting programming in OPL
2001 : Psion Revo+ (fantastic EPOC 32 OS, 2 years without reboot with me !), released my first OPL software, Smuggers (http://www.robertocolistete.net/Smuggers/))
2003 : Siemens SL45i, my 1st phone, almost a smartphone;
2003 : Nokia 9290 (Symbian & Series 80) from the Nokia Product Loan Program for Smuggers testing and development in OPL
2004 Q1 : Nokia 7650 (Symbian/Series 60), started trying OPL on it;
2004 Q4 : Nokia N-Gage (Symbian/Series 60), tasted PyS60, released RPGDice (http://www.robertocolistete.net/RPGDice/)
2005 : Nokia 9500 (Symbian & Series 80)
2007 : Nokia N95 (Symbian & Series 60), the best smartphone !
2009/08 : Nokia N810, my first pocket Linux
2011/04 : Nokia N900 with 2 years of Nokia warranty, the best pocket Linux smartphone, sometimes I spend up to 6 hours reading and programming directly on it !

Siemens SL45i, Nokia 7650 were sold.
The Psion Revo+, Nokia N-Gage, Nokia 9500, N95 are working nicely until now.
But I everyday use the N900, with N810 and N95 for some uses and programming (Python and C++).

I am currently programming in PyQt/PySide por Maemo 4/5 and in PyS60 for Symbian/S60, and experimenting PySide/QML for MeeGo. Integral (http://www.robertocolistete.net/integral/) is my first software for Maemo.

had a Psion 5Mx
at the time, the NOKIA 9000 had a SIM & 2G but simply was out of budget

then i got my 1st mobile, a 7110
used it as a modem with the Psion
for some time i was travelling between two contries & needed a 2nd phone there, so i got an Alcatel with a prepaid SIM; oddly enough, was half the size of the 7110 but already had most if not all of its features, short of the NOKIA (proverbial?) ergonomic design.

7650 was the 1st phone i got together with a (2 yr) contract but kept the Alcatel with its prepaid because it had better coverage :o
got a 6230 from work; when i left the job, took over the phone & the nbr. as a prepaid :p

7710; was looking into 770 at the time, but didn't have SIM, thus no go
the 7710 was a calamity, eventually bought a 1100 & put the sim in it; considering the 7710 clumsiness, didn't even miss it

N95; again, looked @ N810 (or was it N800?), again, no SIM...
got a Samsung i780 (or 780i?) (with wm) from work;
used it barely a week & then got a 1208 (the 1100 didn't have green & red buttons & was just tooooo basic); was one of the few ones not regularly missing calls ¦-))))))))))))
got an iPhone 3G with a contract renewal; tried it a couple days, got the SIM out, threw it in a drawer & got the N95 back in service
the 3G has been used the last few months as an USB stick in connection with a SONY iPxxxx supports but starts to act up after a few hours continuous use :(

eventually got the N900...
dream device :)
got a barely used 2nd hand one a few months ago but the USB port got loose  as it was still under warranty, got a N8 in replacement.

had spotted a new N900 in a small phone shop; had been there a couple times trying to negotiate a discount to no avail.
when the N8 got back, went to pick it up;
still trying to sell the N8 online for 200 bucks; for less, i'll keep it as a digital camera & spare phone :D

Started my Nokia career with the Nokia 1011 waaaay back in 1993.

Then came the 5110.

Next in line was the 3310.

Then came the 7650. 1st phone from Nokia that had a camera; 1st Symbian device; 1st colour display and 1st joystick. Also showed up in the Tomb Raider movie. :) Had a love/hate relationship with that phone :)/:mad:

Next was the 6600. Enjoyed owning that one.

Then a nightmare occured with the 6670  I developed a hatred for that phone, with it's slippery keypad and it's mirror front that blinded me every time I took it out of my pocket on a sunny day. 2/3 into a contract I walked into the Voda shop ans asked for an upgrade.
While I was discussing my options a big box was dragged into the shop, the sales assistant opened it up and pulled out a brand spanking new N73. I fell in love straight away and took out a second contract. Beautiful phone once all the bugs were ironed out. My first foray into the N-Series too.

Next one down was the N95-8GB. Turned out to be a good follow on phone to the N73. Thoroughly enjoyed that one too. Quite hackable as well. (Not as much as the N900 though).

Then I used the N73 as a trade in for the N900. Really enjoying myself with this one. Shame on Nokia for letting it go too soon :(

Next in line will be the............................................... .................. Buggered if I know.............

Daymn.. you used 'em all xD But you stayed away from BB.. awesome :P

What can I say, I like my gadgets, and I like them more when they are portable!

Always been a fan of that tactile feedback, even before Apple reminded everyone not to underestimate that human sense. Though my thumbs are too "fat" for Blackberry and they've always been riddled with confusing ux and what-not.

If there were any devices which I felt unnecessary to buy it would be the Desire Z and SGS (i9000), the N900 is better than those. Though the EPIC 4G is another case entirely, too bad I'm stuck with GSM (/s).

I actually had the N9 for a week, glad to got rid of it. It's not really an N900 successor, I mean it barely went toe-to-toe with the SGS. I hoped to get an N950, but now with MeeGo dead and my NOTE running more effecient each day, the excitement has waned.

I can't wait for the iPhone 6 (or "The New iPhone"), to see where the benchmark is for 2013!

The Best Smartphone Ever™! Nothing, not even the N900, can beat it on usability. The battery life was something modern phones can only dream about:I still get solid 10 days out of mine. It's 9 years old and still going strong (though I admit I replaced the battery 3 years ago.)

The only downside, it does not have WiFi and, somewhat less important, GPS. Otherwise I would never have even started looking for a replacement and found the glorious N900 ;)

Hi,
So old post !
My phones :
Nokia 6110
-> Very Good phone
Nokia 6310i
-> One of the best
Nokia N95
-> The worst ! So disappointed by battery life ! My first step in "next gen" phone was a disaster !
Nokia E72
-> My favorite ! Very good battery life with most n95 functionalities !
Nokia N9
-> Always my daily phone, works great with some tweaks.

Greeting all, I just got back to the Nokia Linux path so found this site and joined up.

I bought a number of devices either because they were cheap or novel but just listing the ones I used for a while or tried hard to like.

Radio Shack PC-2 (Sharp PC-1500) for many years.
TRS-80 model 100
back to the PC-2
HP-95LX
HP-100LX
HP-200LX
IBM Thinkpad 110
back to the 200LX
N770
back to the 200LX
HP 320
back to the 200LX
HP Jornada 620
back to the 200LX

Last weekend I bought a large box full of Nokia goodness: 900,800,770, etc. in the hopes that the 900 will FINALLY replace my aging fleet of HPLXs. It's a fun toy but it's unlikely to be a full replacement. The keyboard, calculator, and such on the HP are just too good. I am hoping to at least use a N800 or N900 for some browser stuff and perhaps I can get IR working so I can use my HP as a terminal.

When I sold my 770, I fully intended to buy an 810 but it just never happened.

I'm actually surprised to not see more LX-ers here.

Yeeeey! ;) They we waaaay over my budget when they were hot but I treated myself to one about three months ago. It is a beautiful device.

Sorry, mate, the IR on the N900 is TX only :( No idea about the N800. Does it have an IR?

I'm actually surprised to not see more LX-ers here.

One right here! ;) 1 x HP-LX90, 1 x HP-LX200. I prefer the 90LX myself.

My device timeline: All Google-Apple-Microsoft-free :D

- some monochrome Siemens bonephone (I loved to play minesweeper on it)
- some LG clamshell phone
- Sony Ericsson K750i (Oh, this was a rocker in school... :))
- LG KU990i (still a beautiful device, despite the resistive touchscreen...)
- Samsung Wave II (a really nice device! bada OS was neat.)
- Nokia N9 - the queen! Using it for one year now. There were hard times but I'd never regret my choice. This phone is just the best. Hardware and Software. Update: I dropped it sprinting against furniture :(... the screen broke - nearly invisibly - but it did... I decided to buy a...
- Jolla phone (Update: finally got it after over a month of waiting. Loving it :))

"despite"???

Well... yes :) Or "in spite of" if you'd prefer that. I just wanted to say that the resitive touchscreen is "worn out" after some years. Is that incorrect English?

Nothing against your English. It is your dislike of resistive screens that I find questionable ;)

Ah okay. Well, the one and only resistive touchscreen I ever used extensively was the LG KU990i's... Quality decreased heavily over time there.
I have never experienced the N900's resistive touchscreen though. Is probably better :)

Openmoko (Screen just broke one day)

N900 (Memory corrupted itself over time)

N9 (Battery got weak, damaged camera while changing it)

N900, Linux in your pocket is the best

-------

N900 (Phone, Linux for my pocket)
+ N9 (EBook Reader, Stargazing, Navigation, Clock)
+ 808 Pureview (Camera, Navigation if N9 is dead)

All of my current phones cost me less than a current flagship and they perform better in every aspect important for me. They even fit into my pockets together with my purse.

Only the N900, als great as it is, is becoming slow. And it can't handle the 41MP images of the 808. I hope a Sailfish device appears, which can replace it. Or a smaller Version of the Dragonbox Pyra.

Nokia 105 (2015) (2015 - 2016):
- Daily driver in secondary school days

ASUS Zenfone Go (Z00VD) (2016 - 2017):
- Used to be my daily driver in my first year at high school.

Xiaomi Redmi 4X 32/3GB (2017 - now):
- My daily driver, no plan to change it anytime soon. It runs LOS 16.

Fxtec Pro1 (2020 - now):
- I don't use it as a phone, rather I use it as my pocket Linux device.

Nokia N900 (2021 - now):
- I bought it for postmarketOS development mostly, but I plan to use it as a daily driver sometime in the future.
