I was going to flash my N800 (release date purchase, woo!) to the latest release. So, I went over to find the latest flasher utility here (http://maemo.org/downloads/d3.php) and, lo and behold, there's no flasher utility for the N800 and Mac OS X. I'm figuring that the 2.0 flasher will work, but I don't want to risk bricking my device. Have any braver souls than I had any experience flashing their N800s on OS X?

As far as I know the flasher doesn't work on OSX and you can't use flasher 2 either so we're a bit stuck. I happen to have a Windows box but not having an OSX flasher is a bit of a pain.
I am hoping to have such tool for my Mac!!

I've successfully flashed my N800 to the latest via Mac OSX using the 770 Flasher app -- http://www.bleb.org/software/770/
Works great!

I tried that last night... didn't work. :(
How'd you do it?

I definitely did not do anything special...
Make sure you remove your memory cards and disconnect from power with a good solid charge.
I just successfully flashed my n800 using my PowerBook G4. Initially the 770 loader didn't see my USB port. I also had a similar problem with my PC. It finally worked when I plugged into the USB 2.0 port.

Yeah - I've got the PBook as well ... guess that USB 1 port won't help us much anymore. ;)

Flasher worked perfectly for me: G4 PB, OSX 10.4.7, N800.
Cool, that's great news!!
I was not aware of it working, and I had to go to my brother's house to flash my N800 with XP!!!
( I tried to install Canola, but something got corrupted and apps were crashing like crazy ).
Thanks for sharing, folks.
One question remains unanswered. What is the actual process of "flashing" the N800? I got the cable, I got the software, but its name ends with .macos . No application will open it, and I can not double click it to open.
How does the process work? Do I need to launch the console? The disk doesn't show up on my Mac OS desktop.
Bear with me, I am no Linux geek. The moment I bought the N800, I thought it was a consumer device. No one told me you need to know such tedious processes like flashing a device if something goes wrong. Worst of it all, Nokia doesn't have any official support for this problem either.

Hi:
The 770 flasher app worked for me.
I had to take out both sd cards. It didn't work on one of my powerbook's usb ports but did work on the other. . .go figure! So try all of your usb ports and take out your cards.

I'm trying to flash my N800 with the latest software (RX-34_2007SE_3.2007.10-7_PR_MR0) on my MacBook using flasher-2.0 and I get the following message:
Found device RX-34, hardware revision 1201
NOLO version 1.1.3
Version of 'sw-release': RX-34_2007SE_2.2006.51-6_PR_MR0
To flash the bootloader, you have to supply the X-Loader image
Any ideas on how I can procced? Where do I download the X-Loader image from?
Thanks.
