N900 Boot Screen Thread!

Hey Everyone,

I'm new to the Maemo Movement and i just recieved my N900. I love the phone and I decided to make this thread to add my two cents into the community. The work that people do is amazing and i hope that the maemo movement can flurish. I have created a bootscreen for the N900 and I plan to add more that i did. I hope people enjoy and add more screens to this thread. I would like to thank the bootscreen app creator and the youtube videos on N900 boot screens.

Leetut, I am just wondering, is there anyway of changing more text in this? For example, the first 'Nokia N900' bit to become 'Street Team Promotions' and then the two 'Maemo 5' bits to be 'Non-Conformist' on one line and 'Freestyle Photography' on the second. then on the final bit, 'Welcome' is removed and the changeable name ie 'IceMan600' becomes 'Street Team Promotions' and under that 'n900 loading...' becomes 'For the world of music and beyond'

If this is possible, I would be willing to pay!!!! :o)

if its the 'squares' one then its no
part 1 'nokia n900' can only have 1 piece of text that is mirrored against itself
part 2 'maemo5' is also mirrored against itself
part 3 the box logo, anything you want
have a think about it and let me know, and i only accept 'thanks' as payment!

Thanks AndrewG. I tried that, but my results were a little different. I didn't have anything say welcom.avi. I had a file called /etc/hildon-welcome.d/default.conf. I made a back up of it and used VIM to edit the default.conf file, but the video file was named differently. At that point, I decided that I wasn't ready to reflash my phone if I messed something up so I downloaded the powatool app.

One of these days I will reflash my phone and use your method to remove the nokia hand shaking boot video because I want to pretend to be a power user! :-P

Yes, I did modified the default.config file and sign in as a root.
Do i need to remove the Hand...avi file from the /usr/share.. something.. something folder to not playing a hand..avi during start up? I don't want to display any video file. Please read the previous thread to see how i modified default.config

im sure i already said here somewhere, made with adobe after effects - photoshop - illustrator - audition,
and a small encoder called 'pazera flv to avi'
i get all of these ae project files from the web,
i just edit, mix up, and add audio to them, anyone can do it
but this thread is about 'boot videos' only, so i wont be giving any advise about how to use these programs here, instead check out videocopilot.net, youtube ect..

I would like to know if you could make as well a bootvid for me. It wouldn't be something special, but something totally new though.

By default thing do you mean the indicator lights that come on before the boot screen video ?

If you do then yes they do come on in a different pattern under PR1.2 then they did in PR1.1.1 I noticed it straight away with the OTA update however since I reflashed PR1.2 onto my phone that behaviour has stopped. I have since changed to some of Leetuts icons and the pattern reverts back to the same format as PR1.1.1
