View Full Version : [Wallpaper] N900 under the x-ray machine

Hey!

I just got some x-rays made of my N900, and made them the right wallpaper size.

The first thing I thought when I saw the x-rays is DAMN that thing is packed with hardware! You can hardly see anything, especially when the device is closed!
It's cool to know that not a millimeter of space has been wasted in the N900, but I was hoping for a little more visibility into the device.

I've also added a few wallpapers of game controller x-rays.
All x-rays were made by Reinier van der Ende, check out his flickr page, he's got alot more game console/controller x-rays on there!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ravanderende/

hope you like them!

The full device, closed

This is what's exactly under your screen when you set it as a background (closed)

The full device, opened

And here are a few controllers:

Did the N900 work 100% after x-rays, I wonder.
What kind of x-ray machine he uses, do you know?

X-ray is (in general) not harmful to electronics. The metal detector is what can mess up your devices. Always put your electronics in the x-ray machine when you go to the airport. :)

I don't know the exact equipment, but it's the same machine used for broken bodyparts, he works at a hospital.

The xray doesn't harm the machine at all, he has xrayed loads of gameconsoles and none of them were harmed. He's an expert and sais it has no impact so I trust that. And electronics get xrayed loads of times on airports and such :)

Wow... you were not kidding, they _really_ are x-rays of an N900! Nice :D
(When I read the topic title I expected a self-made image of what a N900 could look like if it were x-rayed... Boy was I wrong ;))
Looks quite cool, the x-rays of the controllers are also a nice addition! :D
Thank you

Dries

Thanks :D check the flickr paged mentioned in my first post for more console xrays and stuff!
And to compare it to an iPhone 3GS xray :P

We're probably going to sell tshirts with these xrays some day :) Maybe not the n900 one though :P

got one with a higher resolution: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=210015&o=all&op=1&view=all&subj=141653490986&aid=-1&id=1700941606&oid=141653490986
(hope the link works)

its stiched so with some warping, but the details can be seen very clear :)

the original would be around 3000x2000 pixels, if wanted i can post it.

Wow that's great!

What kind of device did you use?

It's way more visible than mine, I want to do mine again now :P, this one was done in a big hurry so maybe it'll be possible to get better results too :P

How did you stitch them together? By hand? If you did it by hand, try the photoshop panorama stitching tool, that works great for panoramas

its made at work, think the name is "Dage", it can tilt the head and do a lot of cool things. its made to make electronics inspection...
thats also the downside, i could zoom into a 3x3mm area, but the maximumg is 30x30mm, so the n900 must be stiched

yes stiched by hand (what can be seen...) i will try the tool, hopefully i can get it smoother :)

Yes, Please! Even a low-desktop-resolution (WXGA or so) would be nice for now, if you can't host the full quality one somewhere. It looks great. :)

I'm convinced the photoshop tool will get it perfectly, it does for normal photos!

Wallpaper? I got an 8x10 glossy print for my wall. :D Also, that reminds me of when I got a high-res image of my retinas from my optometrist and creeped out my family with it as wallpaper. :)

That would be great. :)

The OP posted a picture with the open keyboard, but this (higher-resolution) picture was by designer2k2, who didn't mention any other shots. However, yes, if it's possible to get a similar shot with the keyboard open, I'd second the request.

I can make some hospital x-rays of an N800 for you but they'll only be in black and white.

What did you have in mind?

2010-04-11, 03:52
you see i have some art skill and there are so many apps in the downladmanager but not so many themes or not so cool (atleest to me) so i would like to
provide some i never made any themes (yet) so i need a virus free
download of the theme maker for windows xp or windows 7
would be wery helpful to me and thank you for providing the pics of
the n800 if you could get them

jaem

I'm not up on the current state of theme making, but there are plenty of threads, blogs, and probably a wiki article on the topic. Also, why are you worried about viruses on something like that? :S The program itself doesn't have any, and it's free, so you don't have to go hunting for it in shady places...

You need to provide at least some detail on how you want the picture/pictures taken of it.

Memory cards and battery inside or gutted?

Do you want any special angles so that it appears elongated or foreshortened. You know, junk like that.

Cheers.

ok so im going to make a theme so the best is to get
a pic of the screen

so
pic-only the screen section no battery from the front
and flat when you take the pic and another question

zeronim

what other stuff can you legitimately test your x-ray machine with?

if the n800 turns out good, do you wanna do same with 900?

I can give you broken bones, orbital fractures, dislocated joints, whatever type of sicko images you want. *lol*

As for the N900, don't have one and all my friends have Iphones or Blackberries.

Now, if you want to mail me yours.......

Okay zero, I'll try my best to get an Xray of just the screen.

Understand that getting a perfect pixel 1:1 ratio of what it would appear like behind the screen is not going to be very likely.

So yeah, you might have to do a little graphic editing with it.

I'll have it for you in a few days at the latest.

By the way, this is the stupidest desktop theme I've ever heard of so good luck with all of that. :D

iiieeeehhhkkkssss... feel sorry for you guy. This hurt's even when looking at the pic... I'm not big in med. but this looks really painfull... Just because I'm curious (no need to answer if you don't want to..): how did you manage to get the bone to split along it's length? At least that's what it looks like to me...

I can't do a digital image since the computer requires to pull up the current patient information to do so.

So yeah, I'll have to go old school and put it on film.

I float to a hospital that has such a machine on Friday night.

Sorry for the wait.

Be careful! At least from other components (mic in OM Freerunner) I know there is a maximum KeV mentioned in the datasheets, as otherwise the polarized electret membrane gets discharged. And you know you can erase eeprom/flash easily with ionizing radiation?. This might not only cause a need for reflashing the rootfs - if NOLO is erased you pretty much got a brick aiui. Also in several of the subsystem chips (BT, WLAN, accelerometer, dunno what else) there is local firmware that often is stored to EPROM. Erase this and the chip is dead for all practical POV.

Just felt like mentioning it.

Great job anyway :-)
cheers
