how to change icons on nokia n900???

hello..i've been using nokia n900 for a month now...and i want to change the ugly icons with more awesome pretty icons..do you know guys how to change that? and where can i find icons for nokia n900?

Open the settings in the desktop, select and apply Digital Nature theme, then, restart the phone... now download this (http://www.anonym.to/?http://rapidshare.com/files/380843632/alpha.rar) and overwrite with the original folder in /usr/share/themes (overwrite all theme files!) then restart again the device... this is to have the nseries theme called Hackers with differents icons... do u want to change the sms avatars and addbook avatars to? let me know bout it and i'll help u.... download this to (http://rapidshare.com/files/382854763/icons.rar) and overwrite the folder ICONS in /usr/share/ with the attached one (icons.rar)... sorry it will hack all the sms avatars :D and the addbook avatars to... :) if you need the english menu in power off download this archive (http://rapidshare.com/files/382857256/systemui.rar) and overwrite the sistemui folder in /etc with the attached one ;)

thanks mankir...i like ur icons especially the media player..can u plzz tell me how to install them...i downloaded the package..iam noob sorry dunno how to put them on my phone

To put them on your phone, take the usb-cable and select mass storage modus. Then you are able to copy the files to the phone with a filemanger! After this you have to put them in the proper places (different ones for different content).

Have you read the instructions in the post? Better ask questions at my thread and not here! Are you able to use the command line interface or midnight commander to switch directories and move files? There is a whole thread named "Show off your MODs" or something similar, you will find there every instruction minimum twice...

with the gpe-filemanager

run a terminal and write

root press enter
now writeapt-get install gpe-filemanager press enter

and then gpe-filemanager press enter

u must have installed root-sh fro repo's. install it and then digit in the terminal

root enter
gpe-filemanagerenter
and then process what i wrote there. winsh its not needed, u can make it directly from your device as i did ever ;) good luck

some one just asked me how to add an icon to the menu if an app dont have its own icon (i.e. just a blue square)

heres my guide if any one needs to know:

heres how you add the missing QnitConverter icon:

right click this icon and save it on your pc (or use your own 48x48 icon)

put the icon into usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/hildon

go to usr/share/applications/hildon
open QnitConverter.desktop

save the file and reboot your phone

if your icon looks too big just resize it to 40x40 or 32x32

In fact, The Mana World does have an icon, but it's not installed to the right place. Since the package is based on the Debian package, the .desktop file went to /usr/share/applications/tmw.desktop, but it needs to go to /usr/share/applications/hildon/tmw.desktop.

Best would be if somebody could help me with fixing the package (it also still needs to be optified), but until then you can just move this file (at the danger of causing problems once the actual package is fixed, I guess).

I followed this exactly these are the steps I took:

1) Changed to Digital Nature Theme
2) Restart Phone
3) Opened WinSCP using root made a backup of the original 'alpha' direcotry
4) Copied the new 'alpha' directory and clicked 'yes to all' to move all of the files across.
5) Restarted phone

I now expected to have another theme called 'Hackers' ? Instead I am still on the digital nature theme, only have the themes I had installed, and none of the icons have changed.

Have I missed something??

Edit: Another reboot, background has changed, theme is now called 'Hackers' and my main menu icon has changed.. but thats all?!

is there no way of adding this as a seperate theme so it doesn't take over your N-Series one?

need help here...i'm trying to change siggy icon with my own...i have replace(the icon to usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/hildon)
with the new one but still got the default icon....i have no idea...

p/s: i am using window7 theme
