That may sound a little stupid, but how do you carry your N900 folks?
I'm asking the question because I currently use a PDAir case which I clip on my belt, but it would be so much better to carry it directly in my pocket! I'm scared to do that, though, as a nice device like that shouldn't be carried loose in a pocket in which it can get dirt and stuff... Though when it's on my, I'm scared to smash it somewhere or get it stole while at clubs or places like that :(
So do you carry it in a belt case? Directly in your pocket? In a pouch? Etc...
In a pouch, in my left pocket. Without anything else in that pocket: keys are in the other pocket, along with my wallet (when it's not in my messenger bag)

My left pocket, with some thin metal case I got through amazon.com wrapped on it. It has a belt clip, but I removed that since it kept the screen exposed to the world (and looked really stupid)
I also have a screen protector on it as well, as much as I hate it. It has already saved the screen from metal studs on my jeans, so I will just live with it :)

I have a nice attractive Noreve case and one of their heavy-duty metal belt clips, and a screen protector (InvisibleShield, applied in what amounts to a clean-room environment because it's the only way to get the *&¬&^%!^¬ things on without getting dust under them).
in a sock pouch in left pocket or shirt breast pocket
Left pocket on pants, no case. I don't have anything else in that pocket. Obviously I have a screen protector. Going to get a Zagg skin soon(its a kind of sticker you put on the back).

left jeans pocket, beside my cigs. nothing sharp in that pocket. its not ideal conditions, but far less gay than the alternatives. :)
in my pocket with no covers for protection. i dont usually put anything else in that pocket. There are a few scuffs on my phone, i presume, from coins etc. when i forget. but its nothins to worry about
Directly in pocket, screen protector only. Don't matter how the rest of the phone looks.

Most people say left pocket, cos its easier to pull out and unlock(with middle finger on power button and thumb on screen) with one hand:)
Mine is usually in my left pocket, but i dont use it all the time, i have a 5800 and e75 for work and for play is my baby n900 with its coffee staind lcd screen and screen protector! love it to bits, the more i dont use it the more i miss it! the more i use it the more i love it !
if it could cook and clean and Other things, i would marry it!! lol:D:eek:

I feel stupid with a pelican i1015 clipped to my belt, but I don't have insurance. I get caught in the rain alot on my bike so I need a waterproof case. I still haven't found one that will fit in my pocket.

I use my old 3650's neoprene case. But my N900 also ends in my pockets from time to time :P
during "leisure" time it lives in my right pocket no protection and nothing else in that pocket. if at work it moves to my left pocket as it would be used less and my work keys live in my right pocket.
im actually surprised that i have not yet damaged it as all of my old phones end up falling from a great height within first week of owning and i have had my N900 since may!!!
left pocket, no case or screen protecter. sometimes ill put a pack of gum in there, when im not carrying my backpack. no scratches either. how on earth do you put it in a pouch in your pockets? n900's already chubby enough
n900 in front-left pocket, wallet and keys in front-right. I worry about radiation in my... area... but that's about the only reasonable place to carry it.
Left jeans pocket, unprotected. Kinda starting to reconsider that after someone kicked me in the thigh (yeah, I'm still wondering too).
If I can't have it in my pocket, then it's in a v-moda hard case (Love those things; they seem to unwittingly fit every device I own, with the exception of the N8x0s) in my backpack.

In a 'sock' in any handy pocket or in the phone case thingy on my backpack, still in the sock.
Socks are great because they give the screen a bit of a wipe every time you use 'em. :cool:
I was given a Blackberry case that fits my N900 like a dream, clips securely, and can orient in whichever way is most comfortable. My pockets are always BULGING with . . . power cords and ear buds, so the clip is a life saver.

I had some body protector and Screen protector as well for hmm. 2 weeks? And I removed both when I realized how much damage it does to the user experience. I prefer to remember to do not put anything else in my left pocket :)

I found a Samsonite camera-case that fits perfectly for the device.
I prefer to carry it in the side pockets of my cargo pants... if no cargo, then i carry it in the left pocket :)

Three things I must have with me every time I leave the house: Keys, Wallet (money clip), and Phone. The keys goes in the right pocket. The N900, the left pocket in addition to the wallet since I have now decided to never put my wallet in my back pocket.

What's wrong with doing it this way? I am thinking about buying a belt-clip case for the N900.. enlighten me on why this is not an OK thing to do.
left pocket of my pants along with my keys.
now that i really like that, i'm just used to have my keys on the left pocket and wallet in the right. and wallet + n900 doesnt fit in 1 pocket, so i had to take the left one.
i'm usind the cp-321 case, so i put the keys and n900 so that the keys dont touch the open part of the n900 but the leather part of the case.
Mine rides alone in my left-front jeans pocket, because I haven't yet found a belt case suitable for the Mugenized N900. If I could, definitely belt case.
In case you doubt that I would put it on my belt, or think that I'm socially acceptable until I find one, here's the rest of my loadout: (Not that anyone really cares, but someone will probably get a good derisive chuckle out of it. :))
Right front:
Loose money
Gerber multitool (uber-cheap chinese model, for abuse; bottom of pocket)
3.5" liner-lock (clipped in top of pocket)
Right hip:
Money (stack of $20 notes)
Wallet
4" crescent wrench
Gerber or low-end SOG multitool (for dual-wielding as secondary to S61)
Left hip:
1 or 2 single-cell AAA/10440 flashlights w/ lanyards
This is where I typically stuff any random items I need to carry.
Belt:
2:00 -- 3" frame-lock (in waistband)
2:30 -- Mini RollyPoly dump pouch, this can hold a 32oz./1l beverage

I guess i fall between the "Directly in my pocket" and "In pouch or case that i carry in my hand" catagory :p
I'd say 30% of the time i keep it in my right shorts pocket when i'm doing something that requires both hands, and 70% of the time i carry it in my hand. I also use my old N800 pouch and a Zagg screen protector for added protection. :D

Similar setup here, but with less knives and more tools of the trade instead. Like my netbook. Yes, there are pants out there with pockets large enough to hold a netbook - and I own them all! :D
I have my N900 savely wrapped up in my silicon case, so I can actually put it wherever there's enough space left without risking a scratched case or screen (God forbid!). Most of the time it's in the upper most right front pocket, though, unless that's clogged with various flash drives and external HDs again.
Me? I usually carry it with my teeth.
But seriously, right pocket (and I'm left-handed). Up until today I carried it without a case or screen protector. Today I bought a screen protector because I thought I better be safe than sorry.

together with it's usb cable.
I hate that it awnsers or declines calls when jou fiddle it out of the pouch.more with this problem?

Okay, so like what do you do for a living? Are you MacGuyver's mechanic?
The N900 is a brick, and with such heft and build toughness makes it not require a case just a screen protector and in the pocket ... quite simple really.

A: I balance it on my head
Inside a soft leather case ( by fitbag ) in my left pocket.
Somewhere between a, b and d - either in a soft pouch hanging from a belt loop (the only usable choice if I happen to have jeans with only two useful pockets), in the front left pocket with nothing else when need quick access and no much danger of dropping, or in a cargo pocket with a zipper. Usually have trousers with cargo pockets so any of those apply, depending on the situation and other things I have to carry.
No screen protector; phones are consumables paid by the employer (well I try to keep it safe without keys in the same pocket:) When my N900 will eventually retire change the role from the current everyday carry-around thingy to a general household server/robot controller/whatever, won't matter if there are a few scratches.

Usually in back pocket or front pocket. Have a screen protector on this time. First screen I didn't and the screen got pretty beat up.
It's incredibly convenient. Just flip up my case and slide phone out is easier than putting my hands in my pocket.
Also, when I have headphones in and am walking it fits in it's case perfectly with the headphone connection right between the top flap and the back side of the case.. all of it right there by my left hand accessible with little->no movement.
It's especially easier when sitting in a car and getting into my pockets, while driving, involves all kinds of acrobatics.
Plus... it balances me out.. as I usually am carrying something else on my belt on the other side that would bring a whole new level of controversy to this discussion..

hey guys,1st time posting here..wanted to share if no one have ever tried it out,
any pouch casing for a Blackberry Bold 9000 will fit snugly for your N900...
any one who gets a chance should try it out..
as there are a lot of designs out there for a blackberry pouch..

like all good Fanboys I put my N900 up on a pedestal...
Only joking. Did the PDair ally case thing; very good once I'd opened out the screen aperture, but adds bulk and the open lid/clasp can swing shut and hit/scratch the screen when you use the keyboard.
Settled for leather Nokia CP321 pouch in left pocket. Spare battery in that little pocket jeans have above the right front pocket (we used to call it a Jonny pocket - pertaining to contraceptive storage).
Screen protector of course.
