I am sure I am not the only one, but I routinely use 3 different languages (English, French and German). On the 770, when you choose the language, it automatically changes the pop-up keyboard.

WHAT WERE THE FOLKS AT NOKIA THINKING?

Of course, I want to use the same keyboard in all 3 languages. But I want word completion in the language I use.

Now for a question:
I successfully managed to pair my Nokia Wireless Keyboard SU-8W to my 770. So far, so good. But I have the GERMAN version, and the 770 apparently only knows about the ENGLISH layout. How do I change that?

Andrew's diary (http://bleb.org/writings/diary/&month=12/2005#07) suggests that this could "be fixable with an .xmodmap" file in the /home/user/ directory.

Is this something someone with an SU-8W could tell us about?

What would this file look like? What would we do to relocate characters? How would we identify characters that aren't in any of the screens but we'd like to access?

Mmmhh. I doubt xmodmap is the answer. That's the utility to do it with Xwindow, but maemo does not use X.

OK, I was wrong xmodmap may be the answer. See:
