it was posted on TMO first, there was a thread with the vid, as well as some of e-yes twitter posts floating around just before Nitdroid 0.0.9 was released. My question is why it took this long for engadget to get the story, since they are usually frothing at the mouth when it comes to new android info/updates.

damn it got taken down.
if it is real, itd probably be at 1 or 2 frames per second which is highly unusable and useless.
someone managed to get mac os x but it ran at 2 fps.

do u mean windows 7 or windows phone 7?

don't think win 7 runs on our n900s, i've seen some vids purporting to show this , but they're just fakes using remote remote desktop viewers.

I'll make it nice and easy!

root
cd /home/user/MyDocs

bzip2 -d gingerbread.tar.bz2
mount /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and
cd /and
rm -rf * (this removes all the files from the old installation)
tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/gingerbread.tar

cd /home/user/MyDocs

dpkg -i nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-06_final1_armel.deb

This works.
All works. Apply the patches using the same method as installing gingerbread (.tar blah blah).

I have no issues.

No OC, yet.
There is no root access in 2.3.1 at this point.

OK guy, I wont to start new theme so I'll try here.
I just successfully installed Gingerbread on eMMC from this tutorial
http://wiki.maemo.org/Nitdroid_easy_install_on_EMMC#Installing_Nitdroid
every step I've done and here is a problem. My Gringerbread wont boot, when load finish (black screen like bios on PC when booting) and after that I got error message
"ROOT FILESYSTEM MMCBLK1P2 NOT AVAILAIBLE
GURU MEDITATION #00000025.62017712
PRESS ANY KEY OF PANIC"

What I left out??
This is first time that I want to change OS on mobile so help me please to resolve this problem. Thank you in advance.

No I'm not, it not telling me that mem card is corrupt like in that post just it wont boot from any reason. I have edited .item file and put there to boot from mmcblk0p2 partition. In boot menu there is 2 nitsroid bla bla on mmcblk0p2 (eMMC) but when it start booting there show mmcblk1p2 (MMC) and I don't know how to change it.

Pah sorry bad copy/paste. Should've been something like this http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=897299&postcount=371

All I did was google the Guru mediation number (hint hint!)

Don't think that is relevant in this instance because of the install to eMMC, not MicroSD.

Sounds like the boot file is not configured correctly, the step for leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11<tab key> hasn't been completed or it is being pointed to the wrong partition. I believe (although it's been a while since I played with NITDroid) that you have a problem with the line ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2
and might need to change the partition number (p2) to maybe p5 or even p3.

Thanks dude, I did it, you are genius. I just changed something in .item file from link and now I can boot Android 2.3.1. Without updates working wifi, google login, web, market and music player. That's all what I tried for now.
Thanks one more time

No, it's not that. It was there but i changed and it works.
so everybody who have similar problems do this:

# root
# leafpad /etc/multiboot.d/11-NITDroid-mmcblk0p2-2.6.28.NIT.06.item

then copy/paste this in there:

ITEM_NAME="NITdroid on MMCp2 - 2.6.28.NIT.06"
ITEM_KERNEL=2.6.28.NIT.06
ITEM_MODULES=ext3
ITEM_DEVICE=mmcblk0p2
ITEM_FSTYPE=ext3
ITEM_FSOPTIONS=rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro,commit=3
EOF

That works for me now.

You can't just invite people to do whatever you did that simple.
People and you should do what you did if you don't have a microsd card in your n900.
If you have an microsd card plugged in your n900, you should keep it as:
ITEM_DEVICE:${INT_CARD}p2
please, be sure before guiding anyone.

Everything works well just there is another problem. Android says that my SD card is damaged, how to fix that?

yep but like I told you, I can't access to other folders in /and just cd /and and that's it. I will check again.

You have to mount it to /and first. Read the wiki and after ask. Also do not post the same question again and again because it is a forum, not a chat to get an instant reply.
