I have a few questions for my fellow N800 owners:

1. How do i get root access? I type sudo gainroot and it doesnt work.

2. In xterm, why is the LST command missing? does it need to be installed?

i have more, but i cant think of any right now.

I usually use the SSH method to gain root. Install dropbear-server, ssh to root@localhost, then put in the password (default "rootme"?). Set up sudo, then log out and remove dropbear-server.

this works for me with the new firmware, I think you only need 'rd' mode enabled; the setting survived flashing with the new firmware, so did not re-enable it. see

In the applcation manager, add the following repository:
http://eko.one.pl/maemo
distribution bora
component user
Then update program listing, look at installable programs and install 'becomeroot'. After that you'll have gainroot available.

'LST'? What's 'LST'? Maybe you mean the 'ls' command for listing files?
