Submitted mine the other day, the more folks that do, the better!
One user already posted that this qwerty is crap. (bought one for his iP4)
Maybe there's some other case OEM's that'd do a better job?
Havent been able to find other alternatives just yet...

Just bumping this thread ....
The more folks that approach boxwave, the better our chances of them releasing something for the N9.
Plus maybe there's something better out there than what these guys offer?

Also has anyone found anything better than this?

...looks almost like the N900 :D :D :D Why buy an N9 if you can't rely on VKB only?

^ It's just nice to have the option....
If it's not good enough quality, I'd probably ditch it & only use the VKB/Swype.

i have try using this keyboard on my friends Iphone 4...yes it does feel like crap...you can type using VKB faster than this....another disadvantage using this keyboard is you cannot use another bluetooth device while connected with this keyboard....they claim it can last about 2 weeks after charging but it only can last that long if you not using if often...

Do we know of any other options on the market? Surely there's better options around.

I would certainly buy a HWKB for the N9. I put in a request to Boxwave but I'm not too optomisitc. There are other products that combine a phone and small btkb in a wallet like case that look nice. This might be your best bet. A leather carrying case could easily be customized. It would be fun if one could use the N900's keyboard to control the N9. Is this possible? Perhaps a device could somehow be made so that a N9 piggybacks on the N900. Together they could called the N909!

Isnt the lumna 800 the exact same dim as the N9 you might want to mention that when requesting the kb, that 2 phones could be covered with 1 product

There may be better options around but the critical thing is whether they will make one for N9 which has been pronounced a dead OS by none other than the Nokia CEO.

^ He intimated that MeeGo's dead, he's never said there won't be Maemo-based devices.
Plenty of accessory makers made great accessories for the N900.
And it wasn't even pushed as a mass-market device at all, unlike the N9.

Also luckily we have the Lumia 800, that will create extra demand.
Given the nature of the accessory, it can be easily retro-fitted for the N9.
Nokia & MS are pushing the L800 with all their might in targeted countries.
And that list for targeted countries has been steadily growing.

Nok still hasn't done the same for the N9 yet, in countries it was held-away from.
I'm not sure they ever will now, despite them saying earlier they would.
Although I've heard rumors it's coming to India in March+ (far too late though).

That's a very good point...
Folks that put their vote in (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1089739#post1089739) for this, should mention that!
Or just say you have a L800.

While the shape is the same for both phones, do you think there would be a problem with keyboard mappings not being the same for both phones due to Maemo/Harmattan vs Windows whatever. For example, I am able to get btkb working for my Galaxy Note (even has a cursor so I can point and click!) but have had no luck getting the btkb to work with N9 (see http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1147638&postcount=15).

EDIT:Finally able to get btkb to work on n9 but current problem for me is I cannot enter text when in full screen mode. Hope there is a fix.

Because It was the closest thing to the n950 that we all wanted.

I doubt there would be issues but we'd quickly find out.

Did you read that thread I linked to?
Answer should be there IIRC, but if not post in that thread.

Are there any Lumia fan sites that could be contacted to help push this idea too? ...Could help increase the votes.

I know that sounds daft, "Lumia fans", really ;)

Well, new here and late to the party but I just put in a request and definitely made sure to mention that the N9 had the same external case as the Lumia 800!

Does anyone know of a similar accessory, but better quality than this (http://www.boxwave.com/iphone-4-cases-and-covers/keyboard-buddy-iphone-4-case/bwpdd/pkz-twvc/)?*
The OEM may be interested in making a product for the N9+L800 communities.
If you don't know of anything else, then at least post your vote (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1089739#post1089739)...
Make sure you mention that they'd also be catering for the L800 community!

One suspects that the position of the camera on the N9 (and Lumia) may make it difficult to design a suitable solution

I don't see how it'd be a total show-stopper.

It might be an idea to actually request a keyboard for the Lumia 800!

As that is more commericially viable for a company like BoxWave, the Lumia has official support and mass marketing compared to our stillborn N9.

Also I have a solution that uses the carrying case idea, I am currently trying to get hold of the case, just need to order one, but I have ordered the keyboard

Leather case with landscape flip! (http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=20&mid=1474&pid=17103)

Mini Bluetooth Keyboard small enough to fit in the case! (http://www.freedominput.com/freedom-accessories/i-connex-mini-keypad)

Should get everything by next week, I will do a mini review on this forum once I have it

voted on box wave for a keyboard buddy case for nokia lumia 800 and nokia n9. linked pics to both devices, and linked pic to nokia n900 keyboard and n950 keyboard so they get the idea

what would also be a freaking good idea is that when you want to use the bluetooth keyboard you can swipe to a custom made virtual keyboard on the screen that has smilies set up, like the n900 has, thus taking up one line at the bottom of the screen maximising screen realestate. this would also stop the real vkb's initialising and becoming an issue when typing in a text area.
can the vkb display dynamically change size if you made the vkb one line high with one button at the left edge, if pressed to change to a 6x3 line keyboard of presets for common gestures and then when pressed returning to the 1 line high presentation? is that possible?

One more request sent here.

I went a bit crazy with the description, providing a few links explaining the few differences between the Lumia 800 and the N9, and saying they might as well make it for the Lumia 800, since there would be one more cutout (shutter button for the Lumia), and if possible, the two cutouts in the back to account for both flashs... if that's not in the way of the keyboard mecanism.
I also noted it would be a big deal if we couldn't use the camera because it's in the middle... just in case (hah !).
And the Lumia is 0.05 mm longer than the N9, but that shouldn't be a problem either.

They've got my request too. I stressed the fact that the N9 and the better known/sold Lumia have the same shape and size, except that the Lumia has an additional key on the side, which means that a housing for the Lumia would fit on the N9. That being said, I also stressed that the N9 is a Linux-based device with a well established community, with many people coming from the N900 and its hardware keyboard.

Placed a request :D
Hope they make one!
Placed it for the vertical one though, less chance of interfering with the camera, and would natively support more applications...

Might be an idea to request the NUU MiniKey for our N9s/Lumia 800's as well!

It is a much cleaner and nicer design then the BoxWave, and the build quality is much much better!

Here is the contact form:

http://gonuu.com/contact-us

And the actual product is here:

As I asked in another recent message, has anyone looked at the GKOS keyboard, which comes with instructions for building a hardware version? The software is available at the Nokia Store, and more info is available at gkos.com.
