I found a clip online of an old Sesame Street sketch -- the Count hired Ernie to answer his phone. But the job wasn't as easy as it seamed. When ever the phone would ring, and Ernie tried to answer it, the Count would block him so he could count the rings... "One ring... Two rings..."

I cut out the segment with the "5 Glorious Rings", which was about 22 seconds long. I then ran it through some audio filters to shrink it to 20 seconds, and it is the perfect length before the voice mail picks up.

The rings come through very clearly, and you can hear the Count in the background. Everyone at work loves it -- since it is a combination of a classic bell ring, with a bit of 1970's nostalgia thrown in.

Ahh yes those where the days, many phones back then had some kind of composing tool you could play around with, i remember on of my OLD Sony Ericsson (colour screen) it had a composer with some "tracks" so you could use different instruments, the good old poly/midi times :)

I recorded myself sending the @ sign for email and SMS over shortwave amateur radio to an automated internet receiver station in Europe to give it that slightly faded over the air sound.
What I would really like to find is the old 1990 Motorola bag phone purrr ringtone like from The Big Lebowski, I might just stick that movie on Openshot and see about ripping the ringtone sample direct from the movie.
To satisfy my retro desires I made due with a classic Nokia ringing tone I ripped from youtube.
For a fun gift to friends I have put together audio clips form old HalfLife I audio.
