Now that everyone has seen the current iteration as of N9,
why not ask for more? What are the things you
expect to be different in the next device?

I would like to see:
- Still a bit more power to handle video
playback and concurrent web browsing
smoothly
- Completed premium look&feel (as
the display chassis connection seems
sometimes make a 3310 era noise)
-Qt5 with Wayland

Nokia abandoned Maemo & MeeGo. I don't think Elop will try Maemo & MeeGo again.

@vilva: If you convince Elop to go back to Maemo & MeeGo, you'll be a hero :D

Well, I don't think it is an unreasonable
exceptation for them to provide an adequate
upgrade path for their devices. In a normal
world one would just go to the competitor,
but in this case none of them seem seem to
an appropriate package of hardware and software done.

build up some self-discipline & don't click on topics that (supposedly) don't interest you?

MeeGo(meltemi) + Qt5 +swipe UI going to attack so badly soon!

Nokia will release few S40 phones with Swipe UI A well, That was Nokia promise when told all Qt developer that all the N9 stuff will live in future, so just do ur work and do not worry.

btw Meltemi is not lite or less functional at all!

Attack so badly? yeah right...

1. first of Qt5 is still beta so no way that will come on those "soon too be announced" devices. The QT5 team has actually said Qt will not be release in June as first was the case.

2. Also I do not think those rumored devices will be released in European/US.

3. Nokia N9 has bee removed from the homepages here in northeruopean.

So as long as Nokia dont show were the **** they will go I have no trust in them.,

HOwever I agree about QT. Its alive an will kick asses as soon as we get more devices from other companys. Blackberry 10, Vivaldi and so on..

Unless Meltemi happens to be a UI based on Android, the whole billion is lost. Low end Galaxys are eating S-40 Nokias for breakfast.

Yes, it's called the back button, but the setting also requires a minimum of brain activity.

Expecting Nokia to behave reasonably IS an unreasonable expectation.

The question is not when Meltemi will be ready for market, but whether Nokia will survive as a company capable of producing and selling handsets with in-house-produced software until that day...

I second pycages sentiments, oh the tragic irony that we have to rely on some unlikely form of WP success in order to see the next iteration of badass Linux devices (assuming some of the rumours are true, but google Microsoft + Nokia's operator troubles with Skype for your bubble to be burst), I'm not talking about Meltemi though, I'm intrigued by this upcoming announcement but in all seriousness, a great OS on low end hardware is not badass no matter how you look at it, the future is where my bleak hopes are aimed.
