Create calendar entry through app

Hi,

I is there a way to create a calendar entry from another app? Currently I am working on an event plan, which is displayed as a list and I would like to add the feature that by clicking on an event an entry in Calendar is made.
Can someone tell me how that is done or where I could find an answer?
