I would reccommend installing Conky and Battery eye so you can monitor rootfs space and bat life after installing new apps from testing or dev - this way you can also give useful feedback to...

have you checked that you are connected to the correct APN when downloading the mms? I have set 2 up on mine - Tmobile MMS and web n walk - and need to be connected to the MMS one to both download...
