Re: The N800 has a 3D accelerator, right?

I have gotten software-rendered OpenGL running on the tablet, using the snail-slow Mesa software rasterizer (http://packages.debian.org/lenny/libgl1-mesa-swx11) (10fps in the GLGears demo). I, like...

Re: The N800 has a 3D accelerator, right?

I think it's doable, I started writing some code from the ASM, pH5 wrote a kernel patch to switch the chipset on. Doable, but time consuming. I'm happy to come back to it if we don't get a driver...

Re: Introducing BlueMaemo

This is strange, the system sees the keyboard profile in the pairing process and don't see it in the connecting process. I will try to debug this issue, when I get my hands on a friend's Mac.

Re: The N800 has a 3D accelerator, right?

Just a heads up people.
Whilst some have been bickering here it would seem real progress is being made behind the scenes.
The drivers justification page put together last week has been (and is...

Re: The N800 has a 3D accelerator, right?

I quite agree, we need to provide a compelling argument. The n8x0 is still for sale, so if some nice applications could be made using the 3D acceleration/IVA acceleration, that would be a reason.

Re: The N800 has a 3D accelerator, right?

1. I don't want to start an rant or such thing.
2. English is not my native language, so I have to short my thoughts according to the words i know.

Why should Nokia work on better drivers or...

Re: The N800 has a 3D accelerator, right?

See my earlier comment, far more devices ship which use Symbian than use Linux. I'm not sure where the iPhone lies in all of this.

To re-iterate my understanding, the driver works but is buggy,...

Re: The N800 has a 3D accelerator, right?

TA,
the outputs you are discussing are physically not wired up to anything so cannot be used on consumer devices.

We need to work with what we have and make use of any tricks at our disposal.

Re: The N800 has a 3D accelerator, right?

Rubbish, the PowerVR will quite happily support our screen resolution. In fact I was talking to a Nokian at LinuxTag who had been using it on the N8x0. It uses a shared SDRAM frame buffer afaik, so...

Capt,

compiling on the tablet isn't that bad for this project. Each module is built in a couple of seconds and linkage is similar, its well within my annoyance threshhold at the moment. (if...

suggestion: merge n800 and n810 sections into one named "hardware"

I don't want to step on any toes, but most of the threads in both sections have to do with software. We already have OS2007 and OS2008, so software wise, there is no additional benefits to be gained...

Re: OMAP3 resources opened

Hmm...I should clear up my stance. Openness is still a big issue *to me.* Right now Debian for the N8x0 works by cheating: It borrows libraries and closed source kernel modules from Nokia's OS2008....

Oh, and if you have an N800, you'll need to pop out...
