I personally do not see the point in changing the minimum frequency. QCPUFreq's intention is to save battery power and you won't save any battery power if your CPU only scales down to 500MHz instead...

I got cups-client compiled for the N900. I was able to print via a network
printer. That are just the original Debian package sources compiled
for Maemo.

The n900 detected two USB devices - though did not have drivers for them.

Is that what you say in your /proc/bootreason? That would be highly unusual because Bootstate user is the normal behaviour when the device boots up. Though to be fair, as you push the hardware...

Your device might run smooth at 950MHz, but there is a risk that you are decreasing GSM900 receiver (RX) sensitivity. GSM is narrow band (200kHz) mobile system and clock's which are using those...
