I can confirm without a doubt using the flasher utility it is IMPOSSIBLE to truly brick the N900.

There's always a chance, but it's very slim. I'm pretty sure the cold-boot functionality (allowing reflashing starting from a powered-off state) isn't rewritten when flashing, so it should almost...

The N900's practically unbrickable. If something goes wrong, just start the process over. And it's safe to flash with the global firmware.

BTW it might not have Skype installed because of India's...

Well then you're telling us right there that the video plays. So your N900 does support .mkv playback. Otherwise it wouldn't open at all.

Your video skipping is probably due to an encoded bit...

What exactly have you tried? Streaming or local playback? Which application on the N900 did you use? What are the video file parameters?

Really? Who would watch streaming videos via WLAN, when they are most likely at home with bigger screens? Or using 3G data and all the issues associated with that (battery drain, bandwith cost)....

The media player will not transfer files only play them. I find I have to go in to 'Files and folders' (PC not on so can't check exact name) to find any files as 'Music', 'Videos' etc... don't return...
