Ports will be considered as development work on...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
Indeed :) We'll grab that extra one and it gives us a great mix of devices, and there's a possibility for more if we need it
So how do we like this?
1. Desktop, System & Utilities (2...

Re: Summer'12 Device Program
You can have the extra N950 from the activities I'm handling and you can have more if you wish, since a big majority there is preferring the N9 fkr various reasons.

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
I agree with most of what you say on all things qwazix, but i'm not convinced on this point :) One of our first winners, Smoku, won the games competition with a Playstation Emulator port (PSX4M). if...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
I think you'd have good chances of swapping in the Qt5 device program. Most of the participants in there seem to prefer N9. On the other hand, I think N950 will be highly appreciated as a community...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
That is true but your average voter can see that a helloworld app has no functionality whereas he should not be required to check if the ported x comandline app is original work or just a matter of...

Re: Summer'12 Device Program
The coding competition would welcome another n950 if possible. The initial proposal for the competition revolved around the idea of 10 categories which was a perfect fit for the 10 N950s the equal...

No I am trying to discriminate just recompiling ready made command line applications e.g. imageMagick from debian which is just

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
My take on the mp award:
The mp award only takes away from the competition that is designed to benefit Maemo devices and to provide quality 'apps'(I can't stand that word) to the community. The...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
In development invested time is the most important thing, and proportional to the app quality.
It's the reason why the competition has a start and end time, so the developers can show what they can...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
You shouldn't be. The number of excellent developers far exceeds the number of excellent apps on the market. No every experienced developer is able to make a killer app :) In my opinion the idea...

I am considering my first attempt at an app too, based solely on the chances of winning an N950 because they are not available for purchase anywhere, so any increased chance to win one is MUCH...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition
Let me clarify a bit why I think the mp award is good for the competition.
Firstly, I do not in any way want to push the competition to qt competition direction instead of maemo competition. BUT...

IMO, absolutely *no*, as they're using someone's else work. Hildonizing or optification is kinda like small/moderate update.
Of course, it may be not 100% fair - see AapoRantalainen and his veyr...
