Incase anyone is interested, turns out Ovi Maps on the N9 is qml with a few plugins for extra functions. I've been trying to get it working on my N900, but i keep hitting walls with missing libraries...

I have the same issue and it was due to hildon-desktop i think. Once you notice your phone starting to lag a bit, the alarm will stop responding to presses.

Ovi maps needs data to for search only. Routing can be done offline. Sadly it'll still ask for data regardless of your intentions. To use downloaded maps, they need to be stored on the N900 itself...

Ovi maps is mostly javascript with a plugin, which is why its so slow. Its speed depends on microb hence we cannot make it read the javascript faster.
