That is a detail i have a specific rumor on.
ReviewSailfishOS confirms (via direct messages and specifically allowed me to share here) that dalvik support has been spotted on the demo device and further info is that it is being worked towards an official release.

I guess we will see a blogpost soon to clear things up.

It works, but nothing is available for download yet mostly due to a few outstanding bugs and packaging the install into something easy instead of having to hack around in telnet before you can get it to work.

And I hear something is going down at the Fairphone development talk at FOSDEM in a few weeks for anyone here interested thats attending.

I think it would be possible to transfer the aliendalvik.rpm package from jolla to fp2. (Of course it would't be legal, but technically possible)

As soon, the realease SailfishOS for FP2 i will buy one....

That won't work, Alien Dalvik is hardware specific, similar to building an adaptation of an OS to a HW. If building dalvik runtime is "that" easy, Nexus 5 would have dalvik runtime already.

If there would finally be a nice offline navigation solution. I wouldn't need Alien dalvik anymore. But that is at the moment still the dealbreaker for the Fairphone with SailfishOS for me.

If I'm not wrong, they say there will be also an option to get Android 5 without Google Service. Then they mention the other OS, but don't say anything about Dalvik, so there are no information's if it's supported or not.

Well if there is anything I can do to suport your work, let me know.
Unfortunately I have no programming skills, but I can test or donate or make some translation work or graphics or whatever...

The Fairphones at MWC had Alien-Dalvik running on them.

So maybe its not so clear cut whether we will get Dalvik or not.
