Yes that' pretty much it. The Harmattan Backupmenu requires bits and pieces not present in ubiboot so it never worked "as is"

The UI hooks are there though if one wants to write an alternative for it.

What do you exactly mean by multiboot? Ubiboot can boot up multiple different OS/kernel combos already.

That might be possible; you can try to make partition for it and check if it works.
