Re: Nokia N900 Prototype Build B3

When i connect this N900 proto with usb cable on my PC (win7 x64) the storage mode is not in dark grey. I can't push on it to see MyDocs dir on the PC.

How to resolve it?

It's a prototype. Don't expect everything to work.

However, get us those dumps and we might be able to boot this on our N900s, making it much easier to help you with some of these quirks.

And that is what he's asking for. If he doesn't know how to do it, how can he achieve what we want?..

@n950: You shouldn't use the Storage mode at all. What options do you get when you connect to the PC. Anything like SDK or Developer mode?

Try copying the files to sd-card? Then take the card out and insert to your pc.

Please know that the NAND is NOT MyDocs.
MyDocs = eMMC

Not quite. MyDocs lives on eMMC but it does not represent the entire eMMC. Crucially, MyDocs does not include any of the operating system data that lives on eMMC which is the part that we are most interested in.

That's not what I understood. To me it sounds like he is asking for help with transferring user data which is what PC Suite and storage mode (MyDocs) tend to be used for. Forgive me for my scepticism but n950 has a history of trying to use prototypes as if they were normal/finished devices.

I would be more than willing to help with this but not before n950 gives us some indication that he is willing to collaborate.

I would like to follow Pali instructions:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...1&postcount=25

But now i would like to have MyDocs (storage mode) to my PC.
N900 device need to be connected in mass storage mode if i follow the instructions.

How to do it?

when i connect with usb cable i don't have storage mode. I only have PC suite mode in dark grey.
Storage mode is in light grey i can push on it like disable.

A small tutorial for noobs about dumping the NAND could help n950 to achieve what we want. It would be nice if n950 does something for the Fremantle Porting Task Force project.

It is not easy to write a tutorial if we don't know what is on the device...

telnet?
ssh?
terminal?
g_ether driver?
Is wifi working?

The first thing is I would try to use the rescue image if the flasher is able to upload it and if it is booting.

Then we need to find a way to transfer files, one way is to use the rescue image if everything is working. The easiest way would be the micro sd card.

Or at least we need to find a way to use telnet it is a dev device so I guess telnet or ssh should be installed.

If the rescue image is not working, we would need a terminal to investigate more the os on the device.
