Re: N900 Wireless Charging

If the pads are not well aligned the Qi will connect and then loose connection. The way to reset is to fully take the phone/Qi off of the pad and then align correctly. I put a bit of cello-tape on the transmitter pad to make alignment easier, my wife likes to put her phone on the pad sideways. The important thing is to verify the charge process after a few minutes.

actually - i'm using glued magnets on charger pad, and iron pieces glued on the n900 back cover - see image

Sadly, no way, currently - unless someone write such feature into BME Replacement (and reversed one, i.e. to charge only to certain capacity - for example, charging to 80% only would allow to decrease speed at which it's losing max capacity many, many times. And you could always charge to 100%, when you're sure that you need max stored energey, no matter what).

Did the same for mine, but you want to be careful about putting anything metallic in the center area. If you're going to do it, I advise putting the magnets near the edge of the pad as best you can, since the coil is generally centered in the pad. (Generally 1" radius circle or squared coil.) Placing things in the coil center can cause it to accidentally trigger, which is bad for everything involved.

Re: N900 Wireless Charging

Hi. Sorry for resurrecting this old thread but I'm trying to connect wireless charger to service connectors at the back of my N900. Something that has been done here https://ruedigergad.com/2011/08/04/t...-powermat-mod/http://talk.maemo.org/attachment.php...1&d=1304455473. But what I want to do is to replace hard button to short D+ and D- with something that will short them only when mobile is being wirelessly charge so if it isn't then I can use normal usb cable for data. I have two ideas how to make it. One is to use TPS2513 http://www.ti.com/product/TPS2513 and the other is to use extra coil that's smaller then main (like this one https://m.aliexpress.com/item/328170...st.32817073842 to scavenge for little bit of power to run perhaps a bipolar transistor (if that would work). Any input on this is much appreciated.

What you are suggesting should work, but you can also just enable un-shorted charging.
look into this thread:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1431701

My best success has been to use an external to the phone charging circuit and connect the output to the N900's battery pins or use a shorted data pin Qi charger which plugs into the USB port.

In the end I find wireless charging is a great way to protect your USB port but it is difficult to get the device, even one with built in inductive charging to charge quickly and reliably.

Hello biketool. I'm so glad you still here and you replied to this post. I've been on your thread more then dozen of times. I'm well impressed with effort you put into creating it. I've read that there are some problems with aligning and so on but I'm planning on using it mostly in my car as i spent the loads of time. If I will get right mobile holder and attach charging coil it will always be in the same place. So there shouldn't be an issue with that. Also i have cheap QI charging mat together with cheap charging pad and it seems to work quite well. The mat I have have all pins in plug so guess it's a version with shorted pins, but can't find any info to confirm it and my multimeter is to big to read it. I've would love to get that D+ D- shorting thing sorted. I'm going to investigate it a bit more and I will report with my findings soon. If I can know.

If you have found a receiver with shorted data pins please post it to that thread. In fact if you figure out anything else novel also post it so I can add it to that thread.
