NOKIA N9 Pricing Thread

The pricing of the N9 in Malaysia according to sources at:
http://mynokiablog.com/2011/09/14/no...p-in-malaysia/
will be 1799 RM for the 16GB unit, and 2088 more sophisticated 64GB unit, which is equal to 584/678 USD currently.

I say that's about the price I paid for my first N900, but comparing that to an SGSII for instance, pay some more 20 bucks and you get a 64GB, dual-core... device.

Re: NOKIA N9 Pricing Thread

A lot of dates and a lot of prices have been flying round the web since July. This is the usual FUD-cyclone caused by Nokia being unable/unwilling to give concrete information... and a price without a retail availability date is like a plane ticket without a plane.

Therefore: my enthusiasm for any N9 price 'information' remains zero until I can hand over cash and receive an N9 in my hand in the same moment.

So when can we buy it?

Re: NOKIA N9 Pricing Thread

16/64GB : 599/699€ announced in Finland (vs 426/495€ in Malaysia)
Some webstores are offering 569/639€ pre-order with Sep 25 delivery. Well let's wait and see, this kind of pricing isn't new with Nokia. Otherwise I think I might know where I'm going to spend this Christmas vacation.

Prolly a good idea to have a dedicated thread like this.
The main one is populated with countless other discussion points.

64GB? SGSII doesn't have 64GB. It has 16GB + the potential for 32GB+ more.

I read some Malaysian dudes saying the best SGSII street prices are slightly more than then N9 64GB's RRP.
As it's a RRP, the street price is bound to be way less... eventually.

Of course RRP in other countries is nowhere near as good as Malaysia's
Nokia being consistent in their inconsistency again.

Its not inconsistency... its economics. Most of the manufacturers use this policy pricing are based on the serving areas. For eg. Dr Martin in UK costs you 129 pounds and same in US costs you $109 , its all based on how much they can get out of it..

It's obvious it's not competitively priced in most of the markets where RRP is known, at least now.
To have the slightest chance of making a dent in the markets it's targeted for...
The RRP needs to start at (or just above) the SGSII's best street price, & gradually drop from there.

Telco plans need to be similarly competitive, from what I've seen so far in Australia, it's not too bad.
But it definitely needs to improve a bit....

If they're not more aggressive in both areas (particularly retail here), then they're setting themselves up for failure.
If they can't afford to be more aggressive because they'll be selling at a loss, well than I hate to say it.
But unfortunately there'll be zero commercial succes for what was to be their 1st mass-market, consumer-focussed top-end for yrs.

Thanks @jalyst for correcting. (I actually meant a stock SGSII with an aftermarket unbranded sdcard, but, nevermind)
I was really attracted to the N9, but as days go by, my interest in it flies away, highly priced to be honest, and, a dead-end.
$677 64GB @http://mobiles-prices.com/Nokia-N9

Re: NOKIA N9 Pricing Thread

You can add a 64GB mSDXC, but it falls back to class10 mSDHC speed, & you need to reformat it to FAT32, as there's no SD3.0 support in SGSII.
Going with SDXC at least gives you the option of capacities beyond 64GB, but it's still very pricey, & won't be good value till approx. this time 2012.
There are better value 64GB SDHC's*, but again, FAT32 (so 4GB file-size limit), & poor R/W performance compared to the built-in storage.

* official spec says max is 32GB, but OEM's can bend the rules, & up it to 64GB if they want.

btw. , the cheapest prices for pre-ordering the N9 in switzerland are 16GB ~ 472€ and 64GB ~532€ including VAT.

hope my N9 arrives soon, i've pre-ordered it two weeks ago :D

Re: NOKIA N9 Pricing Thread

Is there a equivalent thread for this @ the MeeGo forum?
There should be, now that N9's starting to pop-up worldwide.

*EDIT*
Oh wait, TMO probably is more suitable...
Now that MeeGo's dying and becoming Tizen.

Hm I bought mine for 370 euro, plus 12.5 euro each month for 12 months with a subscription I will never use.

So a total of 522.40. Which is the cheapest price in norway for the device. Without taking into account the benefits of another plan, which I wont do, because... wow thats a shitton of factors.

I've seen this prices, but if you are outside of Switzerland, they subtract 8% VAT, charge high shipping costs an then you have to pay duty and VAT (21% only VAT in Italy:()

Hm, I make the difference ~92 EUR + shipping. Should be a lot cheaper to just drive over there (might as well make it a day trip and have some fun while you're at it while the weather's still nice) and get one yourself.

Any idea when it comes out there?
That's amazing price for 64GB for what you can find it from Finland.

It's really a shame that the Cyan 64GB is not yet available. Imo the cyan N9 looks so much better than the black that i might get it just because of that, even if i would kind of need more than that 9GB available on 16GB version.

To make this thread as helpful as possible, maybe the original poster could consolidate all the prices to the first post in:

price - country - link to seller (if available) fashion

Still don't understand the obsession with dual-core. Surely it's more worthwhile to judge the user experience, not some number?

American cars have big engines, but that doesn't make them good to drive.

They can be more efficient.

"early october" is unfortunately the only thing i was able to find out when calling the support hotline of the online shop where i've ordered my N9.
I will try calling the support of some other online shops tomorrow.

i would prefer a cyan version too, but the black N9 doesn't look too bad either :-)

Hm Q4 could be late december. Hell it could get pushed back to Q1 2012 for all we know.

Heres my take on the 64gb thing: Spotify, cloudservices like dropbox, picasa, etc. I never needed an SDcard with my N8 or my SGS2, Im sure 16gb will suffice on the N9 as well.

Thats just me tho.

Also: kinda OT. My bad.

I agree, but that's at minum 400 Km x 2 = a bit expensive. Will have a look in Austria which is part of European Community, so there are no problems with duty. The problem is that the prices there are unknown till now and I could'nt find a online-shop where preorder it.

after reading some more days of these threads I won't be pursuing this device.
It's far too expensive and not that good. And it will not be available for quite some time.
I will give my n8 to my wife and buy a dumb phone and a tablet. I think I will be better served this way.

Any chance we could start posting sites which list the N9, city/country, likely availability, inc. any information which you may have as a result of personal contact with the site/seller, and price?

I'll start.

Site: http://www.highdefinition.ch
Where: Switzerland/Uster.
Availability: Used to have availability listed, and several people on this thread ordered, including me. Latest update: "the supplier has no information when the merchandise will arrive" for both variants, confirmed to me in an email from a representative.
Price: CHF 719/649

Site: http://www.welectronics.com/
Where: USA/Chicago
Availability: Doesn't say on their site, but in phone conversation said that there was a batch coming in 'next week' but they don't know the batch will be distributed between 16 and 64GB or even if there will be any 64GB.
Price: USD 925/1050

The link below offers an overview over some vendors in Sweden (in Swedish)

http://www.prisjakt.nu/search.php?r=1&s=nokia%20n9

I just ordered from clickok (which unfortunately does not have the best review but it looks like they ship to scandinavia for sure but also the rest of the world, and at least the order form did not take any issue with an adress in germany, but quoted a specific shipping cost.

Wish me luck!
