Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
I am on the page that there is test "I'm not robot" made with reCAPTCHA. But it says not supported browser.
I tested with Micro-B, Fennec and Opera and it didn't work. What browser support reCAPTCHA on Maemo 5? |
Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
Are you kidding? :)
Or a newbie? ;) These times are long gone! Check out with easydebian and chromium or iceweasel. @maemish may answer, he just currently reflashed and tested a lot of browsers :D |

I have installed easydebian and iceweasel years ago, But I didn't even mentioned Iceweasel, because I thought nobody use it, because it's so hard to use with N900. But now tested Iceweasel and result is the most worst, it even didn't show that there is reCaptcha. |
Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
Netsurf 3.9 not working either.

Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
By the way, where is the latest fennec found and what is the latest opera there is (devel)? I think for some reason I'm not getting stuff from repos as I used to and not getting the latest stuff.

Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
Fennec 17 is for thumb so that's why I couldn't find it. It would otherwise be on the ham/appdownloader. I tried thumb for a short moment so that is the reason why I remembered it should be there.

Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
I do not know what it is for but my n900 runs CSSU Testing not Thumb... And the version of fennec 17 is working for me...

Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
Hmmm...
Been around since 2012 ...so it says after his username... I am guessing...not new to here...got a n9...now got himself a n900... Soooooo... Just stabbing in the dark here... quasi -new ... Actually ...you gents have brought up a good point... What has the most flexibility in range of functioning programs: The ... - Regular extras...and regular cssu cats. Or - testing cats Or - developed cats Or Thumb ? ...that question has been a running thought in my head the last few days now. (Since I have spent sooooooo many years working with my n8x0s...and finally I am sitting down to start tinkering with my n900s...I need to do a little catching up....) |
Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA

Anyway I give hint how you can download from official link and make it almost work in full screen: - Go to m.opera.com with N900 with Opera Mobile (not any another browser) you get right download link to file mini.jad. - It needs J2ME enviroment, that you get most easily install MicroEmulator with Application Manager. - Set at MicroEmulator to fullscreen: -Options -Select device -Resizable device - Open mini.jad, click start. Keyboard works, but don't write / with keyboard, it works like del (at least in finnish-keyboard). But it says connection closed. Has anybody make it work with network? |

Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
reCAPTCHA does not support Opera Mini (or any other Presto engine based browser) as well so this likely won't be a solution. At least - not ultimate.
This approach might be used as a workaround for some extent as the website might see different request source IP (at least if website is not prepared to handle "X-Forwarded-For" HTTP header containing true source IP address) and may pass user on without requiring to solve the reCAPTCHA. On the other hand Opera Mini IPs are shared by many clients so they might look suspicious as well. The other idea that came to my mind was to create an extension or some JavaScript user script or bookmarklet to use a captcha solver service to bypass it. |
Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
So are Maemo 5 users the robots for reCaptcha, because we don't go shop and buy those Android phones like robots? :)
|
Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
In current situation not to be able to use reCaptcha is proof. With Maemo Leste it may be possible to use and then not being able to use is not a proof for or against ones robotness.

With Opera. This far I got.

Re: Maemo 5 and reCAPTCHA
In case anyone is interested in any way to solve the reCAPTCHA directly on the MicroB, Opera 12 or other officially unsupported browsers I have created a simple proof-of-concept captcha solver bookmarklet which can be used also on these browsers.
It uses 9kw Captcha solving service as a way to workaround. I chose this service because it allows the user to earn points for free (for solving Captchas) which can be later spent using the bookmarklet. https://mp107.ct8.pl/upload/20191212...let-master.zip In general these kind of services are being considered rather harmful because they allow to workaround a security measure (captcha) but this one use case seems to be a fair use so I decided to publish it. ;) |

No, nothing really works. Was able to get that opened two times but it doesn't show any images so useless. Opera 12.10.16.

BTW. I look your picture and I can give hint to make more space for page view: Settings->Interface size:small and full screen: on And testing purposes is good to know that some times Settings->Additional settings->User agent: Desktop with Settings->Zoom: 200% is sometimes "Mobile"-compatible when User agent Mobile fails. |
