Kali Linux 1.1.0a armhf for Nokia N900 (working WiFi injection)
 

The Kali Linux finally working on our Nokia N900 devices.

I have not faced any major problem, except the audio is not working.

I have uploaded a working image of latest 'kali 1.1.0a armhf' along with installation guide.

I have built this using the official documentation from kali

I thank every person who put their effort on this device. Especially wicket, I have used his scripts for patching the kali's rootfs.

I will post screen shots in 10 minutes.
I have no idea what is wrong with the sound card, it just displays 'sound card not detected'.
For installation, just download, extract and write the .img file directly to a memory card (8GB). I have added a simple guide inside those archives, please read it.

I tried to add kali repositories to debian on n900, but when I run apt-get update I have got segmentation fault errors. The device is very sensitive to the changes, not stable at all. Then I felt it is better to get kali working on N900 than fixing debian to get kali repositories working.

I'll let you know about telephony soon. Currently I did not have any information whether the kernel supports telephony or not. N900 is not my primary phone, so I didn't think about getting telephony working on it.

I didn't find any "sdcard_partition.sh" script so i've just created a new fs with one single partition and dd'ed the image to that. Everything went ok but i've got those errors during boot: followed by some "Module not found" and finally:
and then i've got stuck in initramfs since i don't know what to do. :confused:

You should not dd to the partition, dd only to the device.
ex: dd if=xxxxxx.img of=/dev/sdx bs=512k

you should dd to /dev/sdx not /dev/sdx1.

After you dd, check partitions using gparted or other tools. There should be 3 partitions. 1st part is vfat, 2nd is ext4, 3rd is swap.

If you still get that error please let me know.

File permissions got messed when I moved them from my internal HHD to external. I'll re-upload the image (Old images removed). Sorry for that :p.

It's possible to run Kali from chroot like the Easy Debian setup, and you should have access to all the underlying hardware in this way. It will be slower of course, and there are a few other small issues I haven't been able to find a fix for yet. Ideally, I'd like to be running both, so I might put this native version on a partition!

I also just used LXDE, since the scripts for Easy Debian can be used for that too.

Hmm, modem support is there since 3.16 iirc. speech support will be in 4.1, see https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/ke...rs/hsi/clients

But there is no info about it on elinux website. And when I tried to run a dialer it just displays modem not detected.
Am I missing something or, do we need to add any firmware to get it work?

Maybe you should modprobe the needed modules. also, iirc ofono expects control gpios to be symlinked, somewhere. there is some script somewhere over the inet how to make ofono work on n900, unfortunately I can't remember where it is. maybe google could help.

I have read somewhere that, it is possible to get data work but not voice calls.

Hi how can i copy the .item file to the /etc/bootmenu.d ?

I get the error:

As root:
It doesn't exist such folder /MyDocs (MyDocs is a folder under your home directory, /home/user/MyDocs.)

is there any way to download the missing libs needed for the SSU Kernel? The problem is that the Nokia Application catalog is not working anymore.

I don't have any idea about it. If you try to install any such application, it may throw you few dependency errors, if you clear those dependencies you may able to install that application, some times such installation may break your OS. (I have such experience once or twice, while trying to install an application by fixing dependencies I have faced broken pipe error, and I haven't find any fix to rescue my PC other than reinstalling the OS)

Just one last question. I Tried to connect my alfa AWUS036H antenna to the Kali linux on my Nokia N900 but i cant get it working.

Does anybody have any idea if and how this works?

hi, no i didnt.

i just used the micro usb interfae of the nokia n900 with an micro usb to usb adapter.

how can i use a powered usb hub with the nokia?

Connect the hub to the N900, and devices to the hub. And also, connect the hub to the powersupply that came with it.

To my dissapointment, I just found out my phones SD-card reader is permanently dead. Does anyone know if I can install this Kali to the internal EMMC on the device and still use uboot to boot to the os?

Unfortunately the procedures described in the thread seem to go well beyond my skill-level, so I guess I'll have to accept my loss with this device.
