Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
As it happens this morning feed would happily animate the busy indicator but wouldn't download anything. My uptime was 7.5 days. A reboot cured the issue.

BusyBox v1.20.0.git (MeeGo 3:1.20-0.1+0m7) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. ~ $ uptime 00:03:11 up 72 days, 5:03, 1 users, load average: 0.08, 0.16, 0.16 I want to reboot as soon as... possible, because that would mean I've PR1.3 installed  |

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
mine does not last over a week without weird issues coming up. It's like it is disintegrating. Lags, inability to connect to gtalk first, then gmail, then sometimes Skype. I managed to keep it alive for 11 days ignoring the problems until it froze completely and had to hard-reboot
|
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
What's uptime, time taken without reboot or recharge?
|
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
Mine consumers 1% battery juice per hour, more or less. That'll be 4-5 days.
And dont believe the system number saying it can hold another 6 or 9 days. That's completely absurd. Anyway its basic math. 1440mhA(?) / avg current A = seconds it can hold ... something like that |

I had it to 6d and a few hours, but then it refused to stop trying to connec to a wifi-network, which wasn't even there anymote (icon flashing).. So it couldn't connect to any other - reboot.

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
here it goes again. 9 days and it's almost unusable. The swipe actions freeze in the middle of the animation, it confuses single taps with tap'n'holds and I've only a conversation window, a terminal, this thread and another open.
htop shows nothing of interest except xorg consuming 8% ram and that swap is filled to the brink. (not ram, only swap, weird?) . dmesg and xorg.log do not reveal any suspicious activity. Only syslog shows a lot of Code:
Jun 12 19:14:26 (2012) cellular: csd[621]: com.nokia.csd.simatk: simatk_report_event_notification:460 Building and sending ATK_REPORT_EVENT_NTF -message |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?

I got an SGX error today that made the phone pretty unusable until I fired good old SSH up applied the kill -9 treatment. Volume was still working and apps were launching fine, only the home screens got messed up.
Attachment 28770 :D isn't she a beauty? Other stats: very reasonable memory usage, lots of room for opening new apps I'd say; total uptime - 39 days and counting Attachment 28776 Attachment 28777 |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
Almost two weeks couple days ago... ITry to just leave it I'm to picky thou,, it does hold up way better
|
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
My own poor n9 gets booted almost every second day, and now and then again 5 to 10 times a day at best as I need to test something in the booting process or tweak it a bit. (I am really a monster here... but my servers do better, more than two years uptime on the running record now)
However, I was just curious and checked my wife's phone uptime, as she uses her N9 just as a regular phone and it sems to be just under month uptime now; ~ $ ~ $ uptime 18:25:48 up 24 days, 4:47, load average: 0.09, 0.10, 0.08 ~ $ |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
Empirically, after 2 to 3 weeks it begins to fill the swap instead of RAM. But I guess it's a noticeable improvement over N900 from what has been said around.
/sbin/swapoff and swapon should have some effect but they don't. But I tried lowering the swappiness (as in a version of FasterN9) and CPU I/O usage and loads improved significantly. (default=25) Code:
echo 10 > /proc/sys/vm/swappiness |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
I deleted the tracker database and my N9 behaves like new. No more lag except under heavy stress (more than 9 windows open). I still have all the messages and all my accounts active.

Or did you restore messages after deleting tracker's database? |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
What, you mean you did "tracker-control -r" as root?
How did you back up your databases? Did you use the tracker-control commands -b/-o or something else? |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
I don't remember exactly what I did. :o It was days ago, I just didn't post anything just to make sure it wasn't a placebo effect.
I can see a rm -rf .smartsearch/ as user in the history, but IIRC I dit tracker-processes -r, not sure. Anyway, by deleting smartsearch folder messages and stuff remained intact. The search application still works ok. DISCLAIMER: This is not going to make your N9 faster, don't go deleting things every day, read my previous posts in this thread to understand what it solved. My N9 had a serious problem in that it started lagging and havind degrading functionality about a day after reboot, and that was probably caused by a corrupt database or corrupt emmc. One symptom was high CPU usage of msgsrvr intermittently. |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
qwazix,
IMO removing smartsearch folder means the system will just rebuild the index hence the search app will still work... The way to stop search app from working is to lower smartsearch priority to 10 or to simply delete smartsearch from /usr/bin/ I think tracker-processes just restarts tracker? If so maybe this can be used to kick-start tracker after fixing corruption...Worth investigating further ;) |

I wonded what can cause this? And how to check the longest uptime (without installing any applications) from the terminal? Command uptime just shows the current uptime. |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
In my case, after several days of uptime, wifi doesn't work as it should. I can't connect to a network or sometimes it does connect but can't browse the web. After a reboot everything goes back to normal.

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
@OVK, @user/zero
I also experienced this this graphics issue on my N9 once in 2-3 months. Just SSH-ing and killing all meegotouchhome(they are automatically restarted by the watchdog) fixes this for me. The other two issues that make me reboot my device are: - updates stop being performed, and there is hanging process pkgmngr. I found recently that can be solved by killing /usr/bin/osa --packages as suggested by TMO user ginngs. - swap memory runs low, and swappoff/on commands do not free it. Still no solution to this for me. |

Once during these 80 days I've had to kill /usr/bin/osa (discussed here). On day 71 I couldn't no longer open the stock browser, but found the solution of killing /usr/bin/grob here and here. Yesterday, I was in an area with poor coverage and while trying to make a call I lost cellular communciations completely. Even after returning home, the N9 would not find any cellular network. I tried switching flight mode on and off again several times, also switching the network between 2G, 3G and Dual, to no avail. Not wanting to break my uptime record, I scanned through the running processes, and found this: Code:
573 csd /usr/sbin/csd -z -p call autorej=0,autoans=0,ecall_detach_pdp=true -p csnet debug=3,att_bars=false,unicode_names=false,forced_dual_mode=false,cell_name_display=false -p gprs -p info -p sim1 -p simatk -p simpb1 -p sms sms_enable_resends=true,sms_retry_timeout=250,sms_retry_count=10,sms_dump_incoming=false,sms_dump_outgoing=false,sms_enable_cs_default_route=true -p ss ss_auto_interrogate=true |
