I don't have a camera nearby right now, but I saw your picture and compaed it to my Pro1. Looks like your device is missing the FC CE certifications. So I'd say that it is a beta testing device.

It may be, I don't know. But what I know is that the viewing angle in that photo wouldn't show us those fc/ce logos anyway, so can't say if they are there or not. They are printed in the hinge part, along with "assembled in china" text and that garbage can logo.

No, it is serial 000092 from first official batch.

I can do close ups if you like to see any special part. just linked that photo since it was available already.

The only obvious differnce between proto and sales devices are the yellow rim at the power button and the two triangle shaped stickers on lower right corners of the kbd to cover the new serviceability screws.

Have anyone checked the Samsung Oxygen O hwkb phone? Sliding display the same way as with N900 it seems.

I've seen this but it is alas just a fictional concept render.

Darn. Can't trust youtube anymore then? Maybe that is why some magic stuff I found there didn't work either. Well it is better for Fxt1 not to have bigger competitors.

Are you sure that it's official sales device?
Official sales devices should have the FCC logos on the hinge...

By the way, You know that there are more different protos available than the ones you've described. Just saying

You don't see any hinge in mosen's picture. It's where his fingers are resting. You see only the backside of the screen, so the logos may be in place.

Hey Fellfrosch!
Since i still did not flash sailfish and try to help with some android related things, can you please test something on the sailfish port?

On Android only one character key is recognized at a time.
Double keypress is only possible for the modifier keys and one char key to get the keys special function.
That is quite bad for gaming and some guys over at discord discuss if it is a bug (gaming) or a feature to help writing.

On sailfish, can you hold multiple keys and get all consequent results?
Like press a, hold a then press b additionally and b would be recognised?
Or hold spacebar and get any other key to work while spacebar is held?

My feeling is on android double key press i hinderd on purpose for some reason. That's why it would interest me if the porters did something differently in sailfish.
Thanks for your time!

I did some quick testing and it seems to be the way keyboard scanning driver is implemented in kernel. It is possible they did it to prevent ghosting as on Gemini PDA, but I don't know the exact reason. Should be fixable to some extent though.

Thanks to lineage we can see where exactly the issue is: https://github.com/tdm/android_kerne...oard/aw9523b.c

The hardware can certainly handle multiple keypresses, just a matter of fixing up that driver a bit :). I submitted a PR with an attempted fix to tdm but I have no idea if it'll work as I am flying blind until a Pro1 drops in my mailbox :D.

Thank you. I remember reading that a legendary GameGripper might be manufactured for Pro1 so this would be a necessary fix to transform the phone to a pocket size retro heaven.

The EU part of the second batch finally arrived to the EU regional warehouse. Hopefully Europeans in the second batch will get their tracking number today, but more likely on Monday I guess.

I sure hope Leste will be usable before next summer. I will inherit some money and if Leste is not ready at the time for N900 I may be tempted to buy FxT1.

Have ordered the device in June (order #17xxx), really hoping I'd get it in the Christmas / New Year holidays. This has certainly been one of the longer waits, but at least it's shipping, unlike some Kickstarter products that never materialized...

Hmmm... If i'm counting right... there is about 600+ Pro¹ ?

Unfortunate none of those are mine... Special #3 is still not ready for delivery... "no money, no honey..." ;)

edit: so i did not have money to buy this precious... not yet... Chen's team have done their best and i'm glad that #3 is there, just waiting my money, which i don't have, yet.. but #3 is ready! ;)

Guys, the Pro¹ is joining some contest about a gadget of the year.
Please vote it's just a few clicks (no need to register!)

About 80 votes needed for 3rd place!

But its a "gadget of the year" not "idea of the gadget of the year" contest...
As soon as it gets available, then why not. Maybe for year 2020 :)

It is "Last Gadget Standing 2020" contest ;). And 1st and 2nd batch is now delivered to pre-oreders :).

Which means how many pre-orders exactly ?

I would estimate something between 100-1000 but probably closer to 100 than 1000. We don't know the actual number. 1st batch was maybe 120 units.

But Pro1 is only 50 votes behind 3rd place. Let's vote!

Astaoth 2019-12-16 13:40

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

Why should we vote ? Until we have the device in hand, we don't know if it's a good product or not.

Kabouik 2019-12-16 13:41

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

Same for almost all devices in the contest, except the Pro¹ *has been delivered to some people* and from those people, we know already it's a solid product with very good build quality and very few compromises. Now if you like the concept of the Pro¹, showing your interest through a vote could translate into more media coverage, and then into more money for them to improve their logistics.

Astaoth 2019-12-16 13:50

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

But would they want to improve their logistic ? They show us they don't want to improve their communication.

About my interrest, I must confess that even if I'm very interrested in a keyboard smartphone, the way the pre-orders are handled cut my interrest. The way they are handled allow me to think that I'll no receive mine before Febbuary. Since this is only a matter of using excel or doing a SQL request, why not telling me directly instead of telling me only that I'll receive my Pro1 before December 20, even knowing that's false ?
I'm even starting to think that I can get a Pro1 quicker by stoping my pre-order from Fxtec and asking a new order from a retailer.

stickymick 2019-12-16 14:27

Re: Are you Ready? F(x)tec Pro 1 HW Keyboard Phone

I wouldn't be keen on voting until I've had the device in my hand for at least a week and given it a good run. But before then I'd like to re-flash it with Sailfish.
