Re: Phone Camera Competition February 2021: "Perfection"

Can you clarify the topic - just for making it absolutely clear.

At the moment having hard times comprehending things. Panic disorder was launched in my mind last wednesday - straight out of bushes while walking from supermarket back home with my wife, after a year from the first apoearance it made into my life - and it makes things unneccessary difficult. Weird thing this state of mind. It pops up and can either stay for hours or days or just couple of minutes. Have been analysing and it may be related if my mind tries to go ahead and not sticking in the present, current moment. Planning or setting any goals seem a no no at the moment. My own fault. Have again forced my mind to try to solve problems without enough information it to be possible which leads banging my mind against closed doors. It seems some barriers which normally prevent current to overflow between synapsis are lowered or something. Have to ease the flood so the level of current keeps down.

So trying to get the exact topic from what you said - which would not bother me normally - causes stress because I do not want to give up from getting the topic but which I do no get right now.

Try to create some reality triggers - smell, sip of cold water, favorite song, and if it's getting worse reach to specialist.

// I know it's offtopic, but seeing a lot of such cases recently

Thanks. Reality triggers could work as a tool. Leaving offtopic. Over and out and case closed.

Re: Phone Camera Competition February 2021: "Perfection"

Maemish, it's been hard for me too recently.
Nervous, tense, continuously pissed off at other people... and a general Covid-tiredness...
Of course that's nothing like a full-blown panic attack, but there is a constant feeling of wanting to quit my job and run away, or not get up at all.
I blame the pandemic. It's been over a year since I had a proper holiday.

What did you edit in Snapseed? Just cropped or some filter applied?

I guess it's the sharpening that makes the fur perfect... or should I say furr-purrfect...

Re: Phone Camera Competition February 2021: "Perfection"

OK tried to capture perfection today. Not sure if that worked.
So first I thought this could be a funny entry:

Title: A perfect place to be online:
https://talk.maemo.org/attachment.ph...1&d=1613075485

But I decided to choose this picture for the competition.
Title: perfect rows on perfect weather
https://talk.maemo.org/attachment.ph...1&d=1613075514

Both pics shot with standard camera app of my Pro1.
Both sharpened, cropped and added a vignette with darktable.

Hey all.

Long time since I've posted anything here on TMO, though I'm occasionally dropping by.

Taken with my Huawei p30 pro.

Only blurred in the top and bottom.

Here's my perfection for this month:

https://dt.iki.fi/stuff/forums/maemo...216_174634.jpg
__________________________________________________

Xperia XA2, Advanced Camera, no processing.
The next day I cycled home over the ice, in the direction the picture was taken, the larger part of my 10km commute. Glorious!

That's really nice. No phone camera I've ever had took good night pictures. I've got a used XA2 Ultra on the way, hope its camera works as well as your XA2.

(I have a "real" camera, a Nikon Coolpix 5100 from many years back, and sunsets are its strong point, IMO.)

Perfect excuse to get a bigger monitor to view it better! ;)

On my desk is already a 25 and a 24 inch monitor. There is unfortunately not more room for bigger ones.
Anyway, i doubt it would change a thing, even with a 32 Inch Monitor. The pic is in my opinion really brilliant for a pic made with a smartphone in dark conditions. Of course there is some noise and sharpness could be a bit better, but who cares! There is also some noise on the photos of Ansel Adams and I'm no pixelbeeper.

The only things I don't like are the crossing traces in the snow, but they are hidden quite well in the dark. And the moon could stand in a more pleasing position.

Any of these flaws, could be easily solved via image processing. Anyway I prefer less heavy editing on our competition.

Composition and colours are in my opinion beyond any doubt.

nonsuch 2021-02-25 18:45

Re: Phone Camera Competition February 2021: "Perfection"

^ why thanks!
It wasn't quite as dark as it looks when I made the picture. I noticed that my Xperia XA2 makes really nice pictures, but totally sucks in even slightly darker conditions. Apparently this was just on the edge.

The colours, and a perfect gradient. Plentiness of snow and most importantly ice on the sea. Nothing I love more about winter than walking on the sea! You can get to these tiny islands that are only reachable by boat in summer. On one of them I even noticed smoke coming from a chimney.

Unfortunately it's all melting away again...
