Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

Well, this topic is a bit deserted. Themes were too hard, really ;)
So, this month, I intend to bring at least 15 users back!
With this easy theme: "Reflection"
Nice because I believe it has several meanings in English for the same spelling.
And also because I already have a pic for it :D

Easy upload:
If you discourage because you don't remember how to upload, don't!

Here is a reminder:
-your pic must be 976.6 KB max.
-go here
-do "post reply"
-scroll down and hit "manage attachments"
-New window appears, hit "browse" and upload your picture.
-"Close this window"
-Above "manage attachments", right click on the image name and do "copy link"
-Into the post window, insert an image and paste the copied url
-post.
Use the copied url for your image in the here thread.

Easy...well...
Quiet sure one of you has a simpler method. Please share (again).

Rules (just copy-pasted):
Photos must be taken during this month and posted before voting starts.
Photos must be taken by the posting member.
Photos must be taken with your phone's camera.
Post processing is allowed but you have to say what you did.
Users must name the phone and software they used.
Users post only one photo per entry.
Users can change the entry only once.
3 day voting period starts on March 28th at 20:00 UTC and ends at 23:59:59.99 on March 31th.
Winner of the vote should choose the next month competition theme.
You are allowed to continue off topic on this thread after competition.

No image seen. And can you edit the topic so that it has the theme included?

Oh oh!
I first thought you didn't see the point of my image.
But don't you see any image?
I do see my image...strange, let me see...
Strange: My post on the unofficial storage thread disappeared.
Absolutely have to leave to work, sorry. I'll correct that tonight.

Topic changed.

Anyhow, thanks for the theme - much better for me, living urban life in a coastal city. Last month was too hard, there's nothing Wild going on... :(

Me too, coastal and urban. + one ladybug.
I see often enough people with wild comportments though. But also, more positively, wild looks or funny nice wild behaviour. But that's hard to photography, that's true.... Ooooh, big cool challenge for the next month: photography of unknown people!

BTW and about this subject: I always wanted to move the N900 camera to the place of one of the speakers to be able to take pics discretely with the phone hold horizontally. Never had time...

p.s. coastal = wild fishes too (good luck in the winter :D)

About feeding this competition,
I was thinking...
We all went from here to other forums. TMO is far less active than before.
Would we invite people from these forums to participate to this competition?
It worth what it worth but would that be an idea?

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

The question is, where have they all moved to?
I know that there are some on discord. There is also a quite familiar atmosphere. Even so I dislike discord, because it's a mess.

On the Sailfish OS Forum is as well some communication. But at least for me it doesn't feel like home. It's more or less a technical forum without personality.

ric9K 2022-03-24 07:44

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

Yeah, where?
I tried discord once but I was totally lost. A bit lazyness,I didn't went back. If you say some moved there and it feels familiar, I'll try again.

It's true that FSO has less warmness, jokes, humanity than here, and more complaints. And this doesn't always mean more technical progresses though.
Up to us to make it change, maybe?

EDIT: btw what...channel (?) on discord have they moved on?

Fellfrosch 2022-03-24 10:54

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

In the end the discordchannel is dedicated to F(x)tech and there is a channel for Sailfish OS. Sometimes thee iis a lot of traffic, sometimes it's quite quiet.

Here is an Invitation link:

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

Oh, thanks.
I tried
Well...google captcha, mail, phone number...
Is that normal or only me?

Fellfrosch 2022-03-24 19:38

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

well it's a proprietary platform. What do you expect.
But regarding phone number, that's new to me. I would never give away my phone number for a platform like that. And I haven't done that for discord as well. If i go to the registration form, there is asked for a user name, a mail address and a birthday. So the only personal information which I have given away is one of my mail mail addresses and the birthday of Bill Gates (which can be found on wikipedia ;))

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

Totally offtopic, but I personally moved to Fxtec forums when my n900 died and I got my Pro1. I believe at least some of former active tmo members did the same.

...now my Pro1 is also (at least temporarily) dead, and I'm waiting for spares from Fxtec or the new Pro1X. We'll see which happens first, arrival of spare parts or arrival of Pro1X. But while waiting, I got a new n900 to have something to play with, and also came back here to see what's going on nowadays. I was pretty delighted when I found out that there were quite many recent topics on maemo/n900 sections :)

Nice to see you back. But you will be punished for being OT...unless you provide a picture :):D:p

I sometimes come back to my N900 which I left intact when I need to chack an SMS or else. Strange feeling, even too much positive to stay comfortable. SFOS is really great but... N900 really is special (or me specially nostalgic:o)

BTW, even more offtopic: I one of you guys would be able to transfer SMSes from N900 -> XA2 SFos, I'd be thankful for some part of eternity and even happy to offer some dozens packs of beers!

Proprietary...well...
Thanks for detailing.
Maybe phone is because of my VPN. Gonna try without.
BTW, did you remark too that TMO is allergic to VPN?

EDIT: Even w/o VPN, Discord says the invitation (Fxtec) is invalid or that there is a problem which needs verification (SFos) by phone #.
I'll try next time in 6 month when my courage will rise again.

My vote goes to ric9k. I was really thinking of taking a picture too but with a new job my life is suddenly changed completely and head just so filled that can't remember things. And I hate my motoG8 and taking pictures with it. I should probably start to carry N900 eith me just for the pictures. Maybe I'll do that.

I could have put this image of my command center to the competition. With an idea "reflections from the past" even though it is present.

"Reflection"? That sounds familiar ;)

(It also shows how long I haven't been here: the month is already over!)

My vote would have gone to Maemish and his reflection of his personality (:)), but as it is, I vote for Pentona.

Oooff, thank you.
Beautiful picture!

Girls and guys,
Normally, as voting started, we shouldn't add more pics.
But as being late with entries on this traditional thread is a traditional practice,
As it seems that we could miss some more beautiful pictures,
-> Should we postpone a little, say, until the 3 of April?
And then vote/confirm already voted until the 5th?

Fellfrosch 2022-03-30 08:44

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

I think, if we postpone, we should postpone a whole month. Otherwise the next moth competition is over before it has really started.

nonsuch 2022-03-31 06:00

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

Let's not postpone (again), please.

Anyhow, and somewhat contrary to that statement, I made another one yesterday.
I know it's late, but I took it specifically for this contest. Make of it what you will.
https://dt.iki.fi/stuff/forums/maemo...330_112344.jpg
XA2 stock camera, no post-processing.
It's actually the same place as my previous picture.

Maybe we could change the rules from
"Photos must be taken during this month and posted before voting starts."
to
"Photos must be taken during this month."
"Photos should be posted before voting starts."
???

And i apologize for initiating the idea even...

It was just too much for me and i am "back" here :p
Never really planned or did a move. That came just from having limited time and attention span.

I concur.

So... the last day of the month. Who won?

Quote:

I have always interpreted that rule as, "photos taken before the current month will be disqualified".

Or, to put it simply, "photos must be taken between announcing the theme and starting the voting".

Re: Phone Camera Competition March 2022: Reflection

Hi Mates,
Sorry, little late but at least not postponed.
Nice month finally. We had 8 pictures. And nice ones!
Thanks to everybody!

So, the votes are:

Maemish I (Dousan)
Mosen II (Pentona, Ric9k)
Pentona II (Pichlo, Catbus)
Ric9k III (Mosen, Maemish, Fellfrosch)

So the winner is: Ric9k

This is a conspiracy. You want me to do all the work! :D
