Phone Camera Competition, July 2022: "Sky is the limit"
 

I had been considering this theme for a while and now is my chance.

Please submit your pictures of the sky. Pretty sunrise/sunset, rainbows, noctilucent clouds, starry nights, comets, spaceships being launched, birds in flight... whatever tickles your fancy, as long as the sky is involved in some way.

No sky but pictures of reaching or breaking a limit in some way may also be accepted in a stretch. Breaking the speed limit or similarly illegal activities do not count.

Rules:

• Photos must be taken during this month (July 2022) and posted before voting starts (photos must be taken between announcing the theme and starting the voting).
• Photos must be taken by the posting member.
• Photos must be taken with your phone's camera.
• Post processing is allowed but you have to say what you did.
• Users must name the phone and software they used.
• Users post only one photo per entry.
• Users can change the entry only once.
• 3 day voting period starts on July 28th at 22:00 UTC and ends at 22:00 UTC on June 31st.
• Winner of the vote will have the honor to choose the next month competition theme.
• You are allowed to continue off topic on this thread after competition.

This is not my entry (it does not qualify as there is no sky), but I am posting it here anyway as it is, albeit very marginally, related to the topic. Sunset, the sun is very low, most of the street already in the shade except one bush illuminated by the last rays of sunlight reflected from a window.

Damn, that is a good picture! I took something similar about 2 weeks ago and have been hesitating to submit it, in case I get anything better. All of that only to be upstaged by yours. I now feel embarrassed to even consider mine :(

As mentioned before, I almost feel inadequate after seeing other people's photos. I though I had a few nice, dramatic snaps but they completely took the wind out of my sails. Oh well. With the lack of anything better, here is my submission.

Taken on 2022-07-06 with a Jolla 1.

What I particularly like about it and why I chose it as my submission is that it looks out of focus, but it is not. The clouds really looked like that. You can see it when you compare with the other clouds.

I almost forgot about the contest existing for a while, didn't make the picture for that but it seems right :). Also didn't even realize that seagull was there when shooting it.

How do I attach an image in a way that you can fully see it, like everyone is doing? Attaching my photo makes it look super large and you can only see half of it...

There is a helper thread here where photos can be uploaded and then linked with the [IMG] tag in a post:

Its a limitation of our forum sadly and needs a work around for now.
Self hosting and linking is also an option.

Here's my entry. Beautiful sunset at the beach. Shot on my Nokia N900, using the default camera application. No post-shot editing whatsoever. And still a stunning picture :cool:

Is that even a phone? I think it is a camera with some phone functionalities. A camera isn't allowed in that competition. NOO WAAAY. :p:D
I seriously think about glueing my jolla1 on my DSLR, for next month competition... :cool:

leaving jokes aside. Why are there nowadays no proper protection sliders for the lenses any more. On any phone I have since my good old N900, there comes a point where the lens coating is to worn to make reasonable pictures, and you have to rub it off. Unfortunately, that results in dull pictures in difficult light conditions. That's really annoying.:mad:

For me its
First Fellfrosch, for the great striking overall atmosphere.
Second Netman for the interesting composition.
Third Macros & pichlo & Pentona for the postcard skies.

Aikon with a million dollar sunset. But its a little angled which might have profited from a litttle correction in software.

Mine, yeah, i made it in time and tried my best. The berries where yummy tho :p

Many great pictures, but Fellfrosch tops it all for me. Although luck to get such a perfect sky surely played a big role here ;)

As promised, here are my other pictures of the sky this month. It was quite difficult to choose between the postcard sky and the doom sky of the first of the other pictures.

@Macros Great shots. Some of them would have had better chances to get some upvotes in this competition, even so your entry is already quite nice. 7424 would have fitted to the theme perfectly.

With an extra hour to give you more time (a euphemism for "I did not get around to doing it earlier" :D), here is the final count:
