Corporate WiFi LAN access - is it a myth?

Does your place of employment provide private WiFi access (secure or - shudders - insecure) to the company local area network?

Just for fun, to see how many companies allow WiFi access to their private LAN network.

:)

LOL... if mine didn't, we'd be in the wrong business... :D

Yeah, I should have said "Nokia employees excluded"! :)

The wi-fi is outside the firewall. Then there's additional VPN to get through the firewall. Done this way, there are no security issues that aren't already an issue when providing VPN in the first place.

I've been attempting to push for Wifi access, especially with Mabugz (since I use Bugzilla all day long), but thanks to our parent company's major security concerns, it won't happen.

There's a poll option missing: "yes, but I have been unable to use my 770/N800 with it".

Exactly how ours is, and no key required. Then we also have special wifi for VOIP that requires a key.

Ah yes, good one - too late now though. I suggest people leave a comment along with details of their employers WiFi network setup so that the Nokia forum monitors can make a note for future reference (yeah, right!)

And this works fine with the 770/N800 (I've never tried VPN on a NIT, only on a PC)?

Yes, but perhaps not as transparently as you could wish -- openvpn and other vpns should have been supported as hooks integrated into the built-in NIT networking setup. Which currently isn't the case.
