I have just added Maemo Mapper 2.0 to the Wiki. It is not the official release but seems to work well.

Smartlauncher needs to be removed or noted. It installs fine on my N800 w/ OS2008, but is often nonresponsive, or opens a different app than what I touched (and not the app right next to it. Like, if I press the furthest right icon, it'll open the furthest left)

Re: Applications working on OS 2008

Just added GPE.

Can someone edit Contents to include a section called Office-Business and move GPE to that? I can't figure out how to do it. This would help keep the Wiki consistent with Maemo.org Categories.

I don't share this experience although i have seen it mentioned elsewhere.

Garage: (Maemo garage link if exists)
Homepage: (Developer homepage)
Notes: (install notes, required libraries, etc.)

When trying to install Claws Mail (the new chinook-enabled version http://www.claws-mail.org/maemo/) I get a conflict with application packages:

Any idea on where to get these?

Hmm... when I tried installing it just errored on a different dependency "libxau0" which appears to be available for Bora but not Chinook.

I added libxau0 from repository.maemo.org (bora free) and it seems to work though.

I think the libs your looking for are on repository.maemo.org (chinook free), but may need to be in red pill mode to install?

Yes they seem to be but I'm unable to install them.

hildon-fm1 complains:
Conflict with application packages : libossomime0 (< 1.8.5)
hlidon-libs0

hildon-libs0 says:

Well what's odd is that I see different dependencies then you do. (For example mine depends on libhildonmimie0) So could it be that your install is trying the bora claws package?

Also there is a Claws annoucement thread now:

The new claws mail has loaded for me on 2008 n800. I used it loading the available app list after the repository was added. When I tried using the link provided in the anouncement I received errors to those previously reported.

canoe from http://maemo.lancode.de/?path=./binary-bora
is also working for me under 2008. I am not able to update the Wiki. It won't let me log in. I am working from my desktop system.

There are also themes there with smaller point fonts.

That is really odd. I wonder if it's turned off for jr. members?

I added the themes link to the wiki. I didn't add canoe, though, I don't know where it should go. What is it? I couldn't find a description and maemo wouldn't load it's canoe page.

canoe is a file manager like gpe-filemanager but what I like about it is that it just a menu selection away to view hidden files.

With the latest python update I have some more apps working.

I have tried Erminig, Feedelity, GDataClient, and Kerez from this link.
http://david.hautbois.free.fr/joomla...tory&Itemid=51

With Ermining I can now sync my n800 with 2008 with my google calendar, :D

wifiinfo and DiskUsage from here
http://www.anderenen.de/anderenende/maemo.html
worked for me. I did not try the rest. note: it appears there are typos on the page the repository is called chinook not chinnok as listed on the page.

I am still looking for 2008 versions of

I just REALLY REALLY want videocenter back. I was using it to download my podcasts for my commute to work.
Right now I'm just using the built-in RSS reader and downloading them that way. It works, but it's a pain to manage.
I tried gpodder but it requires libglade and I heard that glade apps won't be working with OS2008.

The only apps that I really miss right now are:
Video Center
VNC viewer (I used this a LOT with work)

I will be great when they finally get ported!

You can install the repository with a single-click install from here:
http://gronmayer.com/n800/repos/dl.php?id=130

I just tried Knips (camera snapshots) from that repository and it works. Someone was looking for a camera app the other day, now there is one.

Unfortunately it is still using very little jpeg compression... files are close to 300KB each for a 640x480 low quality image. IMHO, if the camera can't take good pictures, then at least compress them a reasonable amount (eg. 80% quality brings it well under 100KB) so that they don't waste a lot of space and are more suitable for direct attachment to an email. Edit: Suggestion sent to author.

Re: Applications working on OS 2008

I was looking at the issue of compiling Xournal for Chinook, because Xournal is one of my preferred apps. It seems that there are a number of gnome dependencies to satisfy, including libgnomecanvas and libgnomeprintui, as well as some other for pdf conversions and for sgml management. I'm in the process of compiling these with the Chinook sdk, but I'm having some problems, mostly due, I'm sure, to my inexperience. I tried to contact Eduardo (aka Etrunko), the guy who first ported Xournal, through his blog, but with no luck.
Now here are my questions, are there any other people interested in Xournal, possibly more experienced than me, for going on together in this project? And, maybe I better wait for those libraries to appear in official repos, instead that doing it myself? Thanks for your advice :-)

GPE todo and calendar will close if you try to add a new category
GPE summary doesn't refresh the todo list.
So GPE works but it is still buggy

Re: Applications working on OS 2008

Ok, I finally got gpodder working.
I had to follow these instuctions at the command line to get glade working:
apt-get remove python2.5-runtime && apt-get install python2.5-runtime && apt-get install python2.5-gtk2
I found the command above here (Thanks Khertan):
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...22&postcount=6

Then for some reason it wouldn't launch with the gpodder_loader wrapper script that it was using for the menu icon, so I edited
/usr/share/applications/hildon/gpodder.desktop
and changed "Exec=/usr/bin/gpodder_loader" to "Exec=/usr/bin/gpodder" and it works now!

All gpodder_loader did was preload something called /usr/bin/connectivity_preload.sh but that file isn't there now, so I guess it doesn't need it to start.

EDIT: I did find out more about that connectivity_preload.sh on this page under "Automatic Connection" http://maemo.org/development/documen...rial_bora.html

Perhaps someone who is able will add this to the wiki...

I got erminig to work in concert with GPE Calendar & Google Calendar.
It syncs events both ways and seems to behave just fine.
I don't categorize my calendar events....trying to add a category crashes the Calendar as others mentioned though.

Erminig requires Python 2.5,
# python2.5-gtk2
# python2.5-hildon
# python2.5-xml

...install the following:
gdataclient http://david.hautbois.free.fr/joomla...fileinfo&id=13
pysqlite

erminig2.7

I got vectoroids to work (a weak asteroids clone)

and also eightyone (excellent raw sudoku generator + game)
one click install
