Nope, unless you use the Instant Messaging Update (RTCOMM) which would replace Pidgin completely. It's a different can of worms.

is that latest RTCOMM (with support for IMs other than Jabber) fully released yet (ie. past being a beta)?

What the heck is the point of basing this thing on Linux if you can't even edit the damned menus and file associations?

This is SO annoying.
