No, I'd like a setting so that if it's full screen it doesn't dim the screen at all. If there's a gps signal or not.

There may be something wrong with your settings. Mine will stay lit when in Full screen mode. no dimming at all.

It seems latest kagu release supports pausing/resuming:

Should Mapper be working in OS2008?

This is the only application left that is holding me on completely moving into OS2008...

I'll work on an OS2008 port as soon as I get an N810 with which to test. I'm not going to release an OS2008-compatible version of Maemo Mapper unless I know it works on the N810.

So, it's just a matter of getting an N810, and I haven't heard any word on when that will happen.

Maemo Mapper v2.0.5 Released

Maemo Mapper v2.0.5 has just been released.

This small bugfix release adds the ability to set minimum and maximum zoom levels at which Maemo Mapper will automatically download maps for a repository. The new setting is available in the "Manage Repositories" dialog and can be set differently for each repository.

Those of you with super-accurate GPS receivers may also notice that the latitude and longitude calculations have been made a bit more precise. Previously, latitude/longitude precision had been limited to a 32-bit float instead of a 64-bit long, and some GPS receivers provide higher resolution fixes that can fit into a 32-bit float. This really only affects you if you are zoomed in at zoom level 0 or 1.

Some of the translations have also been updated. Thanks for keeping those translations up to date, guys!

CHANGELOG:
* Increased precision of latitude/longitude calculations.
* Added repository settings for minimum and maximum auto-downloadable zooms.
* Fixed bug that caused Maemo Mapper to draw the mark in the wrong place.
* Updated translation text.

You can get a preliminary port of MM 2.0 for OS2008 from my page at: http://people.debian.org/~tschmidt/m.../maemo-mapper/

But please be aware that this version is not 100% bug-free and is not the official port from Gnuite, so please blame me, not him if you experience problems. (Current known issues are: the hourglass in the upper-left corner ist not displayed right, the translations are disabled)

@Gnuite: Did you receive my mail on Friday regarding the patches for Chinook? (In the meantime i updated the patches for 2.0.5 and they integrate much better, they are now 100% source-compatible to Bora, there now is a small check in debian/rules which tests if the current SDK is Bora or Chinook sets the new configure option --enable-chinook to the corresponding value.)

You can find the patches here: http://people.debian.org/~tschmidt/m...apper/patches/

Regards,
Thomas

Excellent work :) Unfortunately, I couldn't install due to missing libgdbm3 - Any idea where to get that?

Just add the following catalogue to your application manager:

Name: repository.maemo.org
Address: http://repository.maemo.org
Distribution: chinook
Components: free non-free

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.0

Nice Cheli!!

It seems to work well for me--

Still errors out on being unable to download maps at times,
but I think that is the buggy-ness of 2.0.x thus far!

Thank you so much; this is THE killer app for the IT.

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.0

true, many thanks to chelli for the preliminary port of mm to the new maemo os. right now i'm getting ready to try to load navicore to the 800 with 2008 installed. didn't and don't expect it would or will load, but getting a little desperate as we leave the continent in few days. doesn't look like wayfarer will be operational during the time we'll need it. but let's make sure gnuite gets an early delivery of an 810. mm is a special app
