Re: Maemo Mapper v2.0

I thought I'd move this post into a active thread, its just a quick question..

I am curious if http://gnuite.com:8080/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi is opensource as well as maemo-mapper?
as in available for download, would be great to be able to host off my own server as I am part of a town wide wireless network and would work great when I am out of range of hotspots... (hot spots in the Northern Territory Australia arn't as common as I would like)

Cheers
Rip

Those of you with super-accurate GPS receivers may also notice that the latitude and longitude calculations have been made a bit more precise. Previously, latitude/longitude precision had been limited to a 32-bit float instead of a 64-bit long, and some GPS receivers provide higher resolution fixes that can fit into a 32-bit float. This really only affects you if you are zoomed in at zoom level 0 or 1.

Some of the translations have also been updated. Thanks for keeping those translations up to date, guys!

CHANGELOG:
* Increased precision of latitude/longitude calculations.
* Added repository settings for minimum and maximum auto-downloadable zooms.
* Fixed bug that caused Maemo Mapper to draw the mark in the wrong place.
* Updated translation text.

I'm having stability problems with 2.0.5. After a few manual pans, MM croaks with

gdbm fatal: lseek error

This is with the latest 2007OS. 2.0.4 seems to have not had the same problem.

Just add the following catalogue to your application manager:

Name: repository.maemo.org
Address: http://repository.maemo.org
Distribution: chinook
Components: free non-free
That's strange, I got the "missing: libgdm3" error, too. I have installed all possible chinook repositorys, still got the error :( Any Idea? I'll try disabling some sources...

hmpf, I put the application manager into red-pill mode and installed libgdm3 manually. I after that, it works... did I overlook anything? I assume all of you installed mm for chinook without any problems...

yeah, I ended up installing libgdbm3 from the terminal... Not sure why the app manager wouldn't pick it up... Still, cool to finally try it out :) Will have to go caching or drive somewhere with it. Has anyone built flite for 2008 yet?

As I understand it, that cgi script grabs data from google, it's basically a proxy.

I'm not sure if or how you'd grab all the data.

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.0

red pill mode did the trick to enable installation of libgdm3 requirement to enable the installation of mm 2.0.5 (chinook).

Hmm, I keep getting I/O error or timeout when trying to download routes. I'm using the following URLs - both with no luck:

http://gnuite.com:8080/cgi-bin/gpx.c...dr=%s&daddr=%s
http://www.gnuite.com/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi?saddr=%s&daddr=%s

Anyone else have issues with downloading routes?
